Free Festival

Benbecula Records, 2006

(BEN522) CD Album

Minerals Series - Limited

Release date: 18 September 2006

Free Festival is the collaborative output of Brian Ellis and Brian Grainger. Both Ellis and Grainger met in 2004 via the internet, and immediately found common ground in their prolific styles and musical interests. Following a slew of solo works by both of the boys under many different monikers, they decided in Summer of 2005 to finally try to produce something together. Ellis was living in Washington at the time, while Grainger was located in South Carolina. Files were transferred, and long conversations and late nights gave way to the foundation of what they wanted to do. Drawing collective influences from psychedelic rock, folk, hippie culture and electronic music, the duo quickly progressed into a pleasant balance of the different sounds and approaches they each brought to the table.

Its only coming out on CD am I right? Well CDs are dead cheap to produce. If this was coming out on vinyl I'd have been more impressed. Well done all the same.

Mmm samples do sound quite nice but oddly enough I feel there's not enough going in the first track I'm hearing.

How many of these cds have you sold so far then?

Free Festival is Milieu and Brian Ellis.

and jesus, Promo, they don't know how many pre-orders benbecula's sold, and furthermore, i doubt they posted this here for crits! haha! get a grip, dude!

hey, i'm just pokin' at you anyway.

Everything is open to criticism.

Anyways so why wouldn't they know? I certainly wouldn't want to put my head in the sand over something like that.

We don't know because it just went up for preorder less than one week ago, and it is the label's fault (if anyone's), not ours that we remain uninformed on exactly how many preorders we've drummed up in LESS THAN A WEEK?

Perhaps you should try to understand that record labels run by one or two people often are very busy and cannot afford the time to email a band every time one CD is ordered. I'm sure we shall get a report back from them in due time...until then, quit fucking dissecting everything. We did a record, they asked for it, we gave it to them to release, it's just coming out now...BAM! you are up to speed with everyone else.
