  1. Apple would have forced you to upgrade anyway through their 64-bit only mandate. Have you tried a factory reset and restore to see if that resolves the issue? You may even be able to take it to an Apple Store and see if you can finagle a new handset out of it since it may have defective hardware...
  2. Johann Johannson is officially out... how can they drop the main composer with 3 weeks until the movie premieres? Yeah, they brought in Zimmer and Benjamin Wallfisch to assist earlier this year, but still...
  3. I want the "No Step on Snek" sticker! *Amazon One-Click*
  4. Been getting into NewRetroWave - Bandcamp has a profile on some artists in the genre: https://daily.bandcamp.com/2017/09/06/newretrowave-label-profile/
  5. The SE is basically an iPhone 6 hardware inside an iPhone 5 case, so if you like the smaller form factor... I thought this too until I got one for Christmas (I didn't ask for one; my intention was to wait until Apple released a Watch that worked without the iPhone), but surprisingly I find it very useful - the standing reminders and step tracking alone are beneficial health-wise, and not having to get or pull my phone out to see texts and emails is convenient. Nope. They finally got the battery issues solved where they could put in a cellular radio. Not sure if you can have a different number assigned to it (don't know why you would want to either), but it uses the same number as your iPhone, but requires a separate plan (AT&T in the States charges 10/month extra for that, with the first 3 months free) I'm running the final iOS 11 on an iPhone 6 Plus, and don't have any battery drain issues (didn't on iOS 10.3 either). You might want to see which apps are eating up the most battery - Go to Settings, Battery and it will list the Apps that use the most battery. Leaving GPS-enabled apps running in the background (and giving them permission to do so) is also a common cause of battery drain. You can see which apps are allowed to run in the background by going to Settings, General, Background App Refresh.
  6. Haven't they always been there? Most of them have been there since the beginning, but I think the dates for Korg Trax and Orphans are new. Dates have been there, but the most recent addition is the days the releases supposedly came out...
  7. I am far, far more excited by this than the movie - I got chills watching this! Bonus: Music by Flying Lotus (the final product, not this trailer AFAIK)
  8. I watched this, being a fan of Dave Bautista. I know it's not from the film, but this screamed to me "tryhard" in that it was trying so, so hard to be Blade Runner, but (my opinion) not succeeding. Still holding off final judgement until I see the film. Still feeling worried.
  9. =O you're the infamous Houston air drop dick pic bandit! no but rlly, that's hilarious. I need to try it sometime I'm somewhere crowded. Yeah, LOL - it works well on public transport where many people are in close proximity (since AirDrop works over Bluetooth) and not moving around much. Ageing 6 plus? You sound like one of those tech journalists for Wired magazine. I'm still using a 5. It's still good. Sad and yet (pathetically) ironic - These folks build the phones aren't paid enough to own one. Wait, just a 5? Not even a 5S? My wife has a 5S and I wince whenever I have to use her phone... the screen is so frikkin' small! Plus, the 5S is the lowest model iPhone that can accept iOS 11 upgrades. That makes zero sense. Company must have money to burn. I do internal app testing on iOS devices, and I'm also reachable 24/7 (technically) as part of my job, so they want me to have an X so I can see where FaceID fails some apps that use TouchID and coordinate with the vendor on updates. I'll be damned if I am going to pay for a cell phone for work that expects me to be reachable all the time, and that I need to do part of my job. Ahhh I was gonna say why can't they get you the 8, but that doesn't have that sensor array. Well played It's when you crouch and take a shit, but not over a toilet bowl. This move can be performed outside, or indoors and the only requirement to perform the combo is that the turd must pass through the air, hence the name "air drop" ROFL
  10. Name something more annoying...see you can't. People who hold their phone like this and make calls on loudspeaker in public Wasn't there an entire thread about that? I went in for one of those group interviews back in 2009. They had us watch this "yay Apple is so great" video, and had us do group activities. It was one of the strangest job interviews I've ever had, and the cult vibe was overt. The person I was placed with was actually from my home town and knew some of my friends, though. So it was fun to make another friend out of it. No, you know what's real fun (and annoying)? I ride a commuter bus to work - I turn on "AirDrop - Everyone" and see how many idiots have their phones exposed, then I find an obnoxious picture on the web and send it to them and listen for the reactions. Most people don't even know what AirDrop is, how to use it, etc. none of the watmm shareholders agreed to this and we certainly dont approve of a "costs are rising post" two months down the line ROFL... you know very well WATMM funds go to my Playstation habit - BDB says so!

  12. Just found out I'm getting an X to replace my ageing 6 Plus at work! Yay!
  13. ewoks imminent They'll be small, cat-like creatures called Wokies who claw and scratch their way to victory over the First Order while Rey redeems Rylo Ken who has become Darth Rylo by defeating the evil Snoke and putting an end to the First Order forever. Luke will die fighting Snoke in Episode VIII and become a force ghost advising Rey as she becomes the first Jedi Knight of a new order, realizing Luke's dream of restoring the Jedi to the galaxy.
  14. Isn't that how most iPhone owners unlock their phones... am I doing something wrong with Touch ID?
  15. Sounds like an excuse to get a second TV and get a Switch so you can both play at the same time
  16. If you had a Switch (to play the Switch version you said you owned), you'd be able to play it without the power on in the house (at least until the battery died)...
  17. Dollars to doughnuts says the "swipe up to unlock" will eventually be a setting where you can just look, unlock and go straight to your homescreen. Wireless charging works on the Qi standard; any wireless charger using that standard nowadays will work with iPhone 8/X. IKEA even sells one! Apple says all facial data is stored in the phone only and never transmitted elsewhere. I believe them, however, who's to say someone couldn't take that information off the phone if they needed it? But wouldn't it just be easier to scan a person's face directly then hacking into their phone to steal their face data? I dunno. Also I forgot to mention how hilarious it still is to see hundreds upon hundreds of people clapping for the most inane things, like product updates, Apple store openings, and ridiculous consumer level shit. Facial data is probably useless for anyone to steal; Apple claims they worked with Hollywood mask makers to see if they can fool the cameras with masks, as it requires 'attention' (e.g., movement I would guess) for the device to recognize and unlock. I hope they tested it with dark-skinned people; that would be embarrassing if someone with dark skin couldn't unlock their phone in the dark or low light conditions where the edges of the face may not be clearly visible. The new animoji are pure nightmare fuel.
  18. Hey just did the same thing and agree. I could tell they were playing to my cohort e.g. strategically placed Cure song and NKOTB references but also to current crops. Stephen got a fat fucking check I bet. I saw the 2235 show tonight (Sunday) and it was still packed out. Considering many things in Stranger Things was based on the IT novel... rather ironic it's come full circle (and very meta featuring one of the ST kids in It).
  19. Yeah, having grown up watching Fist of the North Star, this made it even more funny.
  20. Jared Leto temporarily blinded himself (by wearing contacts that don't allow you to see - WTF) to fully get into his role as the blind character he plays.
  21. Apparently inspired by the puffins on Skellig that Rian Johnson saw when scouting locations. I think they're making more of a big deal about them than what they actually will be, although there will be a "Chewbacca and the Porgs" children's book: I had that book when I was a kid - it was based off characters created for the Marvel comics that ran during the 80's. In other news, they've already found a replacement for Colin Treverrow for Episode IX: JJ Abrams. Hopefully he doesn't do a pastiche on Return of the Jedi
  22. Officially the first clip from the movie, that isn't cut for a trailer: I... don't know. Still reserving judgement until I see the finished product.
