  1. if you lack curiosity about fellow humans just because "they speak another language" and you need some hack director to give you permission to expand your horizons then you are indeed a moron. i can appreciate that some people may not have an interest in film and usually prefer to hear from someone they consider "an expert" to make decisions for them- but this film's target audience (even by industry standards) is for males under the age of 30 so these kids aren't acting on such a conscious level. it's one of those visual stimulants where they see "QT's name on the marquee" and they can already anticipate promised violence.
  2. means the distributors required his name to be in the credits to ensure morons go watch the film so they can get a return on the investors money. in 10 years time, they'll just start writing "hey, quentin taratino's friends made this film and he said you should watch it lol"
  3. not exactly a film; more a "how to" guide to beating home video games on the atari vcs, atari 5200, colecovision and vectrex console systems and narrated by lunkhead ginger philip m. wiswell (america's foremost video game expert). the ost is made up of sounds that would've turned early warp releases into liquid
  4. everything i know about this band is negative. including their muzik and fake attitude. i'm still waiting for when everyone realizes how fake they are

cool, first hand testimony of how jim jones managed to convince a bunch of everyday people to join him to build a peaceful utopia out in the jungle then finally drink from a vat of cyanide laced kool aid because the united states government was onto him.

  7. gruppo nps - nuove proposte sonore 1965-1972: gorgeous early electronics with a focus on timbre, frequency and space. heavy stuff daphne oram - the oram tapes vol. 1: fantastic compilation of early recordings by daphne oram that also features 2 early sketches of sound fx created for kubrick's 2001 film ekoplekz - intrusive incidentalz vol 1 + 2: murky dubbed out electronics reminiscent of early egisto macchi

please don't read the rest of the series though unfortunately i got this together with 'the garden of rama'
  9. yes. it has side-scrolling and a circuit bending stage. ljn also did the arcade version, but i haven't been able to get mine hands on that one. i really want star trek the next generation on gameboy
  10. i was never able to finish this game as a kid, let's see whether i can do it now
  11. kinda thought the same thing. would love to know why herbert was chosen, but a part of me is also hoping there is something i don't know about him that will surprise me
  12. i discovered him backwards. first heard the claro lp and quito ep before discovering his werk for the demo scene as mr dunes. i've actually wondered myself what happened to him (in respect to going completely quiet) but i also find that the quality in warp's output has been progressively getting a lot worse (their film division however is looking more plush)
  13. pluto is more awesome. and to the guy who said it's not a planet: you'll eat those words in 2015
  14. new horizons passed uranus not too long ago and is now headed straight for pluto and beyond the kaiper belt. much cooler than all this mars talk so- discuss http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/newhorizons/main/index.html
  15. i got an e-mail from ghost box. it says house is working on a revised edition of 'hey let loose your love'. i'd have preferred a revised edition of 'sketches and spells' personally (that's my favorite focus group album) or something new but oh well. belbury tales is still one of the most impressive records i've heard all year so i'm very happy. the world would boil over for me if either roj or eric zann came out with some new though.
  16. Dick Raaijmakers - The Complete Tape Music of Dick Raaijmakers early electronics by dutch tape-pioneer and sound scientist. some really good blips and various blops dancing all around the noise spectrum; at times it sounds kind of muddy (canon 1-5 are pretty much static plonks) but there are also a couple of interesting jingle-type songs along the way with a much loser and playful structure. if you dug 'manhattan project inc.' you might dig this as well
  17. it's a shame it would have to get to that for you to stop watching hollywood films. if you didn't watch the current output, they wouldn't see it profitable to even consider re-making the film in the first place
