How does the World view America these days?
ambermonk replied to Rubin Farr's topic in General Banter
And Tricky Dick resigned before he could be impeached after the whole Watergate scandal if I'm not mistaken. Hmm. Trump's refusal to "play ball" will no doubt backfire at some point, in relation to the types of officials you mentioned. As for Roosevelt's analogy though, I'm not sure whether it's more accurate to say he's wielding a machete or a dildo at this point. -
Now That Trump's President... (not any more!)

That's good. I had to listen to screaming toddlers for about three hours on Christmas, but at least there was no political drama. I realize Trump won't be the first to become president without prior political experience, but he could at least do his fucking homework. As tarnished as Bush's legacy is, at least he and his Cabinet members were halfway qualified for their positions.- 22,233 replies

Seems like most New Yorkers shun the Donald (his home city), not to mention bald eagles hate him. Irony aside, the potential for widespread grassroots resistance is encouraging. -

He's not the nerdy egghead that Dr. Strangelove was tho. He's an entrepreneur with a giant ego, and likely doesn't know the first thing about nuclear physics. -

This whole point in history reminds me of that part in the first Half-Life where Gordon Freeman has the lights flipped off on him in that one room after he fights off those ninja-like assassins in that warehouse, only to wander into a trap and get sacked by the grunts. Yes, that was a gamer geek metaphor. -
Stick you foot out the next time he makes is corridor pass. That should faceplant the little shit. (Only kidding of course. Probably not worth jail time.)

One month til Agent Orange is official. Hopefully there will be enough grassroots dissent and congressional checks & balances to block any permanent damage - economically, environmentally, in terms of human rights, etc.- 22,233 replies

@ iococoi - that extended edition...that Charlie Chaplin quote was actually quite profound, and could very well still have modern relevance...

Got thru the whole thing, and gotta say I still can't believe it's the same dude who released that thrash glitch kindergarten jungle mess back in '99, which I think was his debut. Monarchs in particular just might be my track of 2016, if not the whole album. Sorry Ae...love you guys, and you fuckin' killed it on your North America live tour last year, but Elseq just doesn't have the color that this does.

You mean creating music as an outlet by which to channel one's angst? I do believe that's how some of the most energized, passionate music is generated. Hmm.- 22,233 replies

I thought Abby openly rejected the annexation (reclamation?) of Crimea in early 2014 on RT? Not sure if that was it, but I remember that vid of her criticizing something the Russian government was doing in regards to the Euromaiden aftermath.- 22,233 replies

Sundubu also, which is Korean hot tofu soup. Excellent decongestant. I rarely get sick tho, which is kinda weird. What I lack in metabolism, I make up for in antibodies I guess.

Finally reattached a couple of blinds for my sliding door to the balcony that broke off, as well as the pull stick thing used to slide them. All that was required was repair tape for the fallen blinds and super glue for the stick - something I could've done months ago.

Yeah it was borderline torture to sit thru. Strongly considering going proxy for the next one. 'Nother FWP: Just had Oreos for the first time in ages, and I just don't find them that appealing anymore. They're like chocolate cardboard wafers dipped in liquid nitrogen with a dab of factory assembly line sugar poop sandwiched in between. Tastes change with age I guess.
