ALIEN / PROMETHEUS / COVENANT - SPOILERS INBOUND!!
azatoth replied to azatoth's topic in General Banter
That's included in the bonus material on the BR and digital releases. Rather cool and should have been included in the movie as an epilogue. Is a bit long for a mid-credits scene, though. At least it establishes why Weyland-Yutani was on the look-out for the xenomorph in Alien. Thought the movie was alright. I like the slightly gothic vibe of a lonely insane android doing experiments on a monster pathogen in a necropolis that a bunch of innocent colonists stumble upon by chance, who then promptly fall victim to the insane android . Set design and production values were top-notch as is to be expected from a Scott movie. If it would be a stand-alone sci-fi movie with the same premise, it would probably be more well-received, but since it's making a mess of the Alien franchise it loses points. As said, reading it as sci-fi romp rather than a part of the Alien franchise improves it. The same way that Aronofsky's Noah works better if it's read as a post-apocalyptic sci-fi featuring Adam, Eve and the golems as post-humans and so on.- 3,883 replies

As long as the House and Senate are in the GOPs hands, there will be no impeachment.

prepare for another year of this madness, before the actual prosecution will start. Donnie Jr was called 'Diaper Don' in college for the habit of drunkenly passing out on beds and pissing himself.

Rumors are circulating that CNN has intercepts of calls from Bannon and Kushner talking treason with Russian officials and The Washington Post has the haymaker: Trump dead to rights. They have been asked by the intelligence community to wait until the methods and sources of these intercepts are safe from being discovered after the info is revealed. Hence his recent retardation. He's preparing his base to not accept the truth. Fox News and pro-Trump pundits are already floating the trial balloon of "collusion isn't illegal. It's not going to work. Mueller and his team are the illest in the bizness. I don't believe it. You must have read it from the liberal version of Infowars. #FAKERUMORS Sad!

The House still has to move for impeachment and with it being controlled by the GOP, I doubt they have the spines to do that. They still need to push through their tax cuts for the rich. The Senate also needs to push through their secretly written healthcare act, which of course will cause millions to lose their coverage and lead to thousands of deaths. Of course, building a case for impeachment could take years and with the mid-terms next year, the Dems could get a majority in the House, the Senate will still be in the GOP's control. So time will tell. But reading some interviews of Trump voters, who most likely will be negatively affected by Trump's and the GOP's policies, they don't seem to care. I think all this just shows that the American system is broken on a fundamental level. When the constitution and later amendments were written, it was a time when the elected representatives put country before party and followed unwritten rules of decorum and procedure. That's all out of the window with the hyper-partisanship that has largely been caused by the infotainment news that created alternative reality bubbles where facts don't matter. The influx of big dollars in elections also fucked up the system. Instead of actual governing, the main job for the representatives is to fundraise so they can be elected and do the bidding of their big donors. The American experiment seems to have run its course. Had a long run, where it did some good things but more of the bad.

His staffers arranged a bunch of meetings and such to keep him occupied, so he wouldn't go on any twitter meltdowns. They also have sitters with him when he is watching TV so he won't get too worked up. POTUS is literally a child.

It's funny that Rick Perry didn't even know what the DoE did and wanted to eliminate it during his run for the presidency in 2012 and now he's the boss of it and all for it. I guess learning that they handle the nukes changed his mind. And a fat paycheck.

The reason fossil fuels are so cheap is that it's subsidized by trillions of dollars globally. Move that subsidizing to renewables and that would help bigly in cutting carbon emissions. Coal use is already declining due to the markets, so Trump's pledge to save coal country is DOA, the market has spoken! And besides none of the top industries would be profitable if they actually paid for their environmental and social impact. I always wondered why oil companies raking in billions in profits needed subsidies. But I guess that's what an army of lobbyists gets you.

Good thing to remember in regards to various social media accounts that spout vile racist shit and other right-wing garbage is that a large portion of followers and posts are bots. The numbers of real racists and nazis is probably smaller than it seems. That said, the normalization of such speech and behaviour as seen from these "alt-right" trolls is a concern.

That's what gets me the most. He's just not smart. It's astonishing how people look up to the guy. Keep in mind that Dubya was basically a patsy and did whatever his cabinet told him to. He was just incompetent. He didn't have the same hubris as Trump coupled with incompetency. Trump is a case study in the Dunning-Kruger effect.

Trump is easily the most idiotic POTUS ever. Dubya seems like Rhodes scholar compared to this buffoon.
