  3. I'M PEPPERMINT JOHN

  4. Managed to get a good deal on this. The distinct style of the original recording sounds so much better on vinyl...
  5. Fucking humiliated myself on the forum I frequent most, now I have no idea where I stand. I have two ideas for new threads, but I don't even know if I should be posting at all...
  6. That track was released to help millions of devastated people in Japan, and now it's on YouTube for free... Locust Toybox - Crawlusc
  7. This track is really hitting the spot right now. Sublimit is to Untilted as 6852 is to Move of Ten, IMO.
  8. Holy hell! I've just heard 'On' used in a trailer for a documentary about Parallel Universes on Nat Geo, airing just 15 minutes before the show itself! I'll definitely be watching, if not just for the subject matter with which I am fascinated.
  9. Third Eye Foundation - The Out Sound From Way In
  10. IIRC, there were four tracks from SAW2 used in the 'Time' series altogether. I couldn't possibly comment on that.
  11. Bjork - Pluto http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjY1mtLrz9I
  12. I had a profound experience last night. After moving through a building, I fell into a large room. It looked Japanese, with an oriental design. There was sushi being passed out, and 'Strung Out' by Philip Glass was being performed beautifully on a string instrument. And that's when I realised. This place was so wonderful, so perfect, that it couldn't have existed at all. I must have been dreaming. When I became lucid, I remember walking around and breaking pieces of wood, but I don't think I stayed lucid for long. I've achieved lucidity steadily more frequently over the last few months. It's still rare, but it's on the rise. One day, do you think I'll have the ability to lucid dream whenever I want? It's something I've wanted for a long time...
  13. READ THE RULES Seriously... You have a bit of leeway if you're a regular contributor and everything, but requesting copyrighted music in your very first post is another matter entirely...
  14. I've created another version of this challenge, this time using 'Cichli' by Autechre. Same rules still apply, but HOLY SHIT did this surprise me. Just listen to this! Audiophile Challenge 2.flac
  15. Wow, that's actually pretty close. You have a rough idea, for sure. I did it for 1 or 2 years when I first started collecting music, but I slowly started uploading my CDs in higher bitrates until now, where I usually use MP3 V2. I still have some music in 128kbps, but that's OK. I'll put up with 192kbps or higher when obtaining new music. edit: you posted while I was writing
  16. HOLY SHIT! BN!!!!! I used to love those! Remember that little jingle in the advert, to the tune of "Mah Na Mah Na" by Piero Umiliani? Ah, this brings back all kinds of memories... Where's the bigger image?
  17. It's simple. I have uploaded a one-minute sample of "Dance V" by Philip Glass. Although the entire file is encoded in FLAC, it randomly switches between two different samples: A FLAC, and a 128kbps MP3. Both are exactly the same apart from the quality, and your job is to figure out exactly when it switches between the FLAC and the MP3. If you really can't tell when it switches, congratulations! You're free! You can encode all your albums in 128kbps and have peace of mind. But if you notice the switches... well, maybe there's a good reason for FLAC encoding after all... RULES: Place ALL your guesses in spoiler tags Ears ONLY (no computer analysis!) Have fun! Audiophile Challenge.flac
  18. Mistadobalina mistabobdobalina mistabobdobalina won't you quit

  19. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VHh-JRORFBs My favourite Christmas song
  20. To celebrate International Talk Like a Pirate Day, I'm listening to this: Locust Toybox - Walk The Plank Bosun "This is a pirate song. I don't even remember making this but I like it."
  21. Philip Glass - Dance No. 2 I am seriously, seriously in love with this piece right now. It's just so relaxing and hypnotic, it takes you on an amazing 23-minute journey. Is it worth starting a thread about this track? Coz that's what I usually do when I feel this way about a piece of music.
  22. The Prodigy - Your Love (Remix) My favourite track from Experience.
  23. Here's a bit of dream I remember from last night: I was in some kind of garden with fences and fixtures. This had some connection with "an episode of The Simpsons where they go to Australia". I begin to float upwards, looking down on the cobblestones and the fences. I now have this ability to fly around, and I can will myself to rise upwards. As I get higher into the air, I look down on the garden and find that it has turned into a car boot sale. You know, a bunch of people park their cars and sell stuff at stalls next to their cars. As I am flying around, I start to sing "The Kuru Field of Justice", the first movement in Philip Glass's opera "Satyagraha". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMtDI539bvI While I am singing, I pass a stall with some old ladies. Suddenly, one of them spits at me, and it goes all over me and stuff. "Did you just spit on me?" I said. "Yes, I did", she said in a firm voice. What else could I do? I pushed some objects off the old ladies' stall. My memory is a little hazy, but I think I called them bitches, too. Of course, the next thing to do is float my way away from the stall as fast as possible, but things take a turn for the worse. The old ladies start chasing me, and they're bloody fast for their age. I try to hover upwards and out of reach, but I am hindered by the giant ceiling which suddenly appears in the air. Eventually, they are too close to avoid, so I face them. I crush them with something shaped a bit like an ironing board, then I wake up in the midst of the night. I went back to sleep and dreamed some more, but I don't remember the dreams clearly enough to describe here.
