  1. I'm straight and I'd rather be looking at Xabi Alonso than her.
  2. Is anyone reading Omega Men? I'm pretty curious to see if DC is really publishing a book whose main characters are essentially space ISIS. Dude who's writing is supposedly ex-CIA counterterrorism.
  3. Authority (second book of The Southern Reach Trilogy) by Jeff Vandermeer Runaway Horses by Yukio Mishima In The Spirit of Crazy Horse by Peter Mathiessen Age of Ambition: Chasing Fortune, Truth, and Faith in the New China by Evan Osnos im on the 2nd. it gets report-ish, and i like it so far :) read the long walk. great book I'll definitely give The Long Walk a read. America Library Association has it on their list of 100 best novels for teen readers. Wonder if I can get away with teaching it?
  4. Don't do it to yourself. I think it was alright (at best) for maybe three seasons. It's totally unremarkable US network TV.
  5. DKR has aged terribly for me. It seemed liked the coolest thing ever from ages 12-15 or so, but I tried to reread it about a year and half ago and thought it was nonsense. Year One is still great though.
  6. http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2015/07/16/rappers-young-thug-and-birdman-plotted-to-kill-lil-wayne-indictment-alleges/
  7. The Unwritten Saga of the Swamp Thing (just the Alan Moore stuff) Preacher What are some movies, books etc. you like?
  8. I actually agree with you and think of the history / social studies teachers I've talked to would rather teach the kind of class you describe. If the people who set education policy knew anything about education, I think you'd see much less emphasis on memorizing whatever happens to be the acceptable version of a given event and more focus on analysis, context and current events. Teachers are punished for encouraging critical thinking here.
  9. I guess I should add the caveat that the Herzog jawn was funded by ATT, VERIZON et al. Lil disappointing.
  10. From One Second to the Next - A short Herzog joint about the aftermath of fatal car accidents caused by texting drivers. Pretty fucking horrific considering it's ~35 minutes of people in living rooms talking straight into the camera. Makes me want to sell my bike as well.
  11. In general the problem is that people who are neither historians nor educators get a say in how history textbooks are written. Edit: lol chunkster
  12. I'm too lazy to make anything other than burrito bowls.
  13. Schweinstiger is one of my favorite players, but this feels like one of those transfers where the buying club ends up funding a transfer for the player they should have bought in the first place (Vidal). Seeing either of those players stumble would test my faith though.
