  1. A friend of mine works told me that, in a completely insane coincidence, he talked to a couple producers on the film when the news broke about Heuermann (the new suspect) and they told him that Amy Ryan actually had him in her house with some home renovation job! He wasn’t sure if it was before or after the film was made. Still, that’s fuckin ridiiiiiculous.
  2. Watched this last night because it is about the Gilgo Beach murders in NYC. The movie has some good performances and interesting details about the early developments in the case, many of which I haven’t read about in my near-obsessive scouring of news coverage. Unfortunately, the story and suspense is a bit thin. It’s really more about the interpersonal relationships. If you haven’t been following the news, it’s pretty crazy. They finally found a suspect and arrested him / raided his house. They found a secret room with an arsenal of over 200 weapons and a coffin-sized glass case with a life-sized doll in it. Banana town. Lots of other creepy/gripping details, as well.
  3. Hey twid crew. I’m wondering if there’s any way for me to use my 100w tube amp (Marshall JCM900 1x12 combo) with 8 ohms impedance to power a larger bass cabinet (Ampeg 4x10 HLF) with 4 ohms impedance. I feel like it has to be possible in some ways. I also have a basic Ampeg head that I usually use to power the 4x10 cabinet but it obviously doesn’t have the tube overdrive, reverb, etc. I’m assuming it probably isn’t possible to daisy chain the Marshall combo into the Ampeg head and them into the 4x10 cab without blowing something up. Anyway, I’m clearly not an electrical engineer type. I just want a beefy tone and am teased by looking at my gear and wanting it to work for me.

  5. I’ve been curious about this for a very long time and started watching it last night. It famously has a reputation for being terrible ( Bowie one said “It was my 32 Elvis Presley movies rolled into one”) and, although I certainly can see why, it’s worth watching to see Bowie moving and breathing in 1978. Still, it is not a good movie at all. The first 60 minutes of the movie could have been done in 5. I found myself checking my phone a lot / 10 Also, peeped the new Mission Impossible movie. At the end of the day, I dug it. Fun movie. Criticisms ?
  6. Totally forgot I took this ten years ago. 2013 score: 6 2023 score: 5 By 2073 I’ll be at 0!
  7. Jane Birkin. A celebrity crush, as well. Growl. She also had many a dope jam. This tune was the Klopjob of its day…
  8. Thanks! Looks like Richard is a big Shinra Knives fan (dropping 3 tracks in one set). Good stuuuff! Nabbed one of his cassettes.
  9. * listens to all of Richard’s tracks to scientifically determine which is the shittiest *
  10. Soooo lush. Also when he mixed in the following track with that cascading sound I literally got heart feels.
  11. New season of What We Do In The Shadows is out. If you’re sleeping on this show, stop it and watch the damn show already. It’s fuuuuun.
  12. Turns out this comp was also accidentally pressed on some vinyl copies of Taylor Swift’s new album!! Taylor Swift fan says her Speak Now vinyl contains 'cursed' electronic music “Taylor Swift is not, to the best of our knowledge, a proponent of sinister British electronica… Internet sleuths started to piece together what was going on, identifying that both the songs Hunter had heard were taken from a UK compilation called Happy Land (A Compendium Of Electronic Music From The British Isles 1992-1996).“
  13. I didn’t see this anywhere here but just learned about a new fuckin comp with a B. Strider track on it… closest thing to a “re-release” that we’ll probably ever see. https://aboveboardprojects.bandcamp.com/album/happy-land 1.Cabaret Voltaire - Soul Vine 07:49 2.Ultramarine (feat. 14. The DANK MEMES thread should have a “don’t ask don’t tell” policy.
  15. This one’s been on repeat for the past couple days.
  16. As parents of a already-Wham-obsessed toddler, we watched this the other night too. After listening to Andrew Ridgeley’s audiobook-autobiography the doc felt like a hyper-condensed version of that (I wondered at times if they lifted parts of AR’s narration from the audiobook). There were lots more fun details about their time in school, creative origins, escapades on the road, more anecdotes about the Last Xmas video shoot, etc. If you liked the documentary, I highly recommend it for a long drive.
  17. I completely forgot until reading this that I auditioned for Blue Man Group in the late 90s and actually got called back! Didn’t get the job tho ?
