  1. I’m indeed a drummer. Got my first snare around age 9 and first kit at 10. Been in MANY bands and played loads of gigs… including a few in Tokyo! Even though I also play guitar, bass and keyboards (and consider myself a pretty good guitar player), drums are still probably my main instrument. I play hard and loud. I currently have 2 kits: my 1980s black Pearl Export (my first kit, kinda in pieces atm) and a white sparkle Gretsch Catalina Club with a whopping 18”x26” bass drum. Sadly, I haven’t really played drums in about 4 years. Having a baby early in the pandemic had a lot to do with that. Some of my favorite drummers: Chuck Biscuits, Bonham, Mike Bordin, Zach Hill, Brian Chippendale, Zigaboo Modeliste, Ringo, Grohl, Tony Allen, Hunt Sales, Dennis Davis, Nick Mason, Bill Ward, Mitch Mitchell, Colm Ó Cíosóig, Steven Adler, Keith Forsey, Daniel Fichelscher, Gregory Coleman.
  2. Watched M3GAN (Unrated… I imagine you can skip the PG-13 version) tonight. Highly entertaining. Can’t really see how anyone would not enjoy it / 10
  3. This is possibly one of the best games ever made. I think we had this for the Atari Lynx in the late 80s. I used to wonder if squarepusher got his name from this game (Chip starts pushing squares in round two). Gotta say, the Lynx version had way better music. … oh, and speaking of the Atari Lynx, Slime World had some dope music and sfx as well…
  4. Saw Indiana Jones 5 in the theater last night. Pretty fun. Fleabag was great. Harrison Ford is dependable, as to be expected. This film surprisingly has the most personal character development I can remember seeing in the franchise, which is refreshing, however the core story is minimal and there are far too many chase sequences. There was a healthy length at the beginning with a de-aged flashback version of Dr. Jones that was entertaining enough but a bit like watching a dramatic interstitial from a video game. Still, it was a great film to see in the theater with a bag of popcorn. Dragged a couple tears out of my cynical eyes in the end. 7.925 fedoras / 10
  5. I’m up in Portland right now. It great to see so many bikers. This city is so purdy.
  6. Of all the Syro tracks I would actually choose 180db to play for our poppy person.
  7. Was listening to the Field Day album in a plane with one Old Fashioned in-a-can in me and that album and Mike & Rich definitely feel like *alcohol* albums. SAW2 definitely feels like an LSD album. I feel like Syro could be either a weed album or a MDMA album. SOSW is either LSD or MDMA. Come To Daddy feels like a weed album … Anyway, what are your thoughts on this very important topic??
  8. Back in the day, I remember I listened to AB4 4 or 5 times on 33rpm before realizing it was supposed to be 45rpm. That ep is pretty crispy and massive already and I remember thinking it was his weirdest album because of how chunky and slow it sounded. When I finally listened it on 45 I felt like it was too fast so I toggled back and forth a bit each time I listened to it.
  9. LOVE Syro. As far as his LPs go, it’s probably my second favorite behind SOSW… possibly a tie. It just takes me on a journey every time I listen to it from beginning to end. I definitely hear what @cruising for burgers and @beerwolfare saying but those are some of the reasons why I love it. Having said that, I’m pretty pumped for the next LP, whenever that happens. All of the bits of “new” material from the live gigs are the other 2 short releases have made me feel like the next one could be better than Syro, which is VERY good for me
  10. It pays to cruise the Aphex store at low heat times, I guess? I just popped on there at random one day and was like… hold up. Had to catch my breath and pinch myself. I’m very curious if something else has come and gone without any of us noticing.
  11. Didn’t buy drukqs on vinyl new because I wasn’t as into the piano stuff (for the price of the vinyl) and a few years later I could have gotten a used copy that was hanging on the wall for MONTHS at Kim’s St Marks in NYC, but didn’t. I regret that now. I got both tuss releases new on vinyl and actually broke the news here when a few copies were for sale on the Aphex store. When that happened I was a nice guy and only bought one copy cuz I already had one. Any of you peeps snag one of those at the time??
  12. Pro Tips: Buy the ones made out of sandpaper. Don’t buy them expecting to make money on them.
  13. It took a few months for the Huston/Manchester/London ones to pop up in the AFX store.
  14. It looks like the web store was updated with a bunch of different purchase options for “UK CUSTOMERS” and “NON UK CUSTOMERS”…. Unless I somehow missed that part from before. I could have maybe saved a few bucks??
  15. Pretty simple… the cost is going towards the fancy, custom packaging. If you don’t want the truly unique packaging option then you are in luck because the mp3 copy is only $4
  16. Just realized there are tshirt bundles at the bottom of the page on the aphex store. If it was a new shirt I’d buy intrigued but it’s either the black one, the white one or a slipmat.
  17. Bumping this... Anyone able to scan the QR codes in the google drive folder. My app is fully updated and I get nothing
