  1. air miles still exists though? lcbo no longer partners with them, but air miles definitely exists. I just bought a waffle maker with air miles points lol
  2. Oh there are definitely some predatory marketing campaigns about getting "30x points if you buy this shit that you clearly don't need", but the key there is to send those e-mails directly to spam lol. But in general you get points for daily purchases, the specific things such as in your VO is for bonus points/miles.
  3. We pay our bills, buy groceries and gas, eat out (when that was a thing lol) etc. on credit cards. Generally spend enough to get $50 - $100 equivalent in points every month. These points can also be used to buy groceries or other things (I have a Canadian Tire card, cause buying shit to take care of the yard means going to Canadian Tire - it's a Canadian thing, sorry eh, but I get Canadian Tire money back). Canada has a pretty high usage of credit cards and Electronic Funds Transfers. Some people are obviously not good with money and should never get credit cards, but then I'd say the same would apply to those Buy-now-pay-later schemes usagi mentioned in Australia.
  4. There's a meme in there somewhere. Personally, I like my credit cards, as long as you make minimum payments on big purchases or pay off the entire thing when you can, you're not going to get fucked by the high interest rates. The points and rewards are nice perks.
  5. Do they not have credit cards that offer points and/or other forms of rewards in Denmark? I was looking up those BNPL companies in Australia, I see that they have partnerships with companies such as Adidas...if someone really needs to finance sneakers they might need to reevaluate their purchasing. I get it for big ticket items (appliances etc.), but for clothing...
  6. It's tough I guess for them, they really don't want to be seen as just another streaming service, which is fair (and laudable), but they really do need to do something to address sorting of collections.
  7. But i hear you on the digital deluge of music. Speaking of, I purchased the discography (at that point) of an artist on Bandcamp, which consisted of 403 individual tracks. In order to download them all, I have to download each one individually, as opposed to a big fucking ZIP (or a few I guess, as the size limit for ZIP is 4GB I believe). That in turn creates individual zip files, which unzip to folders, which means moving all the tracks from their individual folders into one big folder (luckily scripts exist) but still...significant FWP.

    Now Reading

"Fall, or Dodge in Hell" - Neal Stephenson. 20 or so pages in, and while I still love how detailed Stephenson is in his approach, there are occasionally times when I wish he would get to the point a bit more quickly. Still, a very enjoyable read.
  10. Should be twice a day. Fuck these selfish dangerous pricks.

Shit I think I unpinned this by accident. Anyways - now reading Decent but only about 80 pages in. Interesting dichotomoy in the two protagonists so far.
  13. As for this release, I've only watched the first video in full, but I'm not sure Uwe quite hits the mark with this one. An interesting concept.
  14. Megrez slowly growing on me. Alioth was an instant banger, but there's a lot more subtlety in the longer Megrez tracks. We're just lucky as shit to have so much great music from Aleksi.

Kind of meh. Concept is a standard quest trope in post-apocalyptic US that’s been broken into corporate enclaves. Some interesting possibilities, but it feels like half of the book was written by an edgy 16 year old. Anyway, easy read, good brain relaxant.
  16. Wasn't criticizing, just updating. Fent is cheap to manufacture, and China recently (last year I think?) placed way stricter controls over the export of both the finished product and precursors, so for Mexican cartels it just made sense to start producing.
  17. Love the "fuck Antifa" chant. You guys know your "greatest generation" spent their best years fighting fascists right? It's just guh. Also: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/aug/16/vaccine-skeptic-us-cardinal-raymond-burke-ventilator-covid
