Maybe we'll get some more Stardust? Bit sad, I've been listening to them quite a bit in recent times for some reason. Homework was fire, Discovery was disco-y, and RAM was such an emotional album. Fell off a bit after the first two, but those plus Alive 2007 are quality.

The problem is the black keys lack depth in the animation, and the resulting actions correspond to that lack of depth. still, relatively impressive when you read that the one for “Soul” took less than 3 seconds to create.

Indeed, I had forgotten about the association with Karate Kid 2. Man i just went and watched the official video for it, and dude looks like a serial rapist. Maybe Tepid Etcetera? On the other hand, it did lead me to this absolutely brilliant interview with Marlon Brando on the Dick Cavett show: My respect for the man keeps growing.

I thought someone had made a documentary about the Cecil Hotel in Vancouver, which was a total dive bar/strip club/weird music venue/hotel/brothel that got torn down in the early 2000s and was all excited. Then I saw it’s about that idiocy in LA. The first review I read might as well have been written by @perunamuusi lol, totally trashed it.

Born in Edmonton, that first paragraph was me. Learned all the French I’d ever need by grade 6 cause my parents sent me to a private school where the French teachers were Parisienne, which ruined me when I switched to public school cause I never had to study it to get good grades. But never spoke it again. It’s very useful nowadays in the federal government. Most jobs after the entry level are bilingual, and if you want to work in the foreign service it is a must at all levels.

Isn’t @joshuatxuk living there? And @Atop? Who else...I feel like C Brown (I do miss his mixes) is there too. Whatevs. Hope all Texans are making it through despite the republicans’ best efforts to fuck things up.

Lol simmer down. You realize that btc relies on all those things too. Because you need to keep the computer network safe and secure.

Lightning network is DOA, because the average person is not going to (and likely is not capable of doing so) create a multisig wallet for each vendor they wish to transact with. Also: https://arxiv.org/pdf/2006.01418.pdf

A computer network refers to the physical computers. BTC is a P2P application layer that runs on the TCP/IP protocols. Lol you ignoring the actual cost per Tx doesn't magically make them disappear. If you think that article is just standard Tether FUD, fine. When the price drops to 3K, and the underlying fundamental issues of network congestion and lengthy Tx times remain, more people will understand there is no value in BTC as anything beyond an investment vehicle, and recognize that it is one that is inherently susceptible to market manipulation.

The point is comparing the energy cost per transaction, so it is an entirely valid comparison. And BTC is not a computing network, it is an application layer. Regardless, the article that dcom posted should be very worrying to anybody holding significant amounts of crypto.

Can't remember if I posted this in here already or not, but it's good enough to warrant posting again.

This hits home cause my kid is learning quebecois, and trying to explain this to her is like banging my head against a wall. Whatever, she's 6, she'll memorize it within 2 days. So jealous of that ability to soak in information like a sponge. At least they don't have the specific counters like in Japanese and, to a lesser extent, Korean.

Fucking international zoom meeting suck. This is a rather large group, so am required to sign in 30 minutes beforehand, which meant waking up at 5:25 this morning to log in at 5:30 for a 6:00 meeting. I only went to bed at 2:45ish. FML. Caffeine isn't working either. Someone materialize me some amphetamine.
