  1. That's the key. I think it resists a rational inventory of the "goods" and "bads" of each track. Overall it's really quite ambient (I agree with the other person who said it's like SAW2). Very good album to work to.
  2. the fact that people don't know that quote fills me with sadness...
  3. autechre being the last idm "superstars" still making interesting music might have something to do with it.
  4. Keyosc really should have been included on the official album, it's a lovely come down track, and if you include it, it breaks the typical ae mode of "grandiose ending track" which is getting slightly stale at this point...
  5. Yjy Ux may not quite touch the damaged beauty of Drane2 but it's pretty dang amazing. Quite lovely. end of Recks On is pretty cool. still digging the hell out of this album
  6. let's not get carried away...imo there's no single track on this as memorable as Nuane It's shaping up to be a great album...but I can't see it surpassing Chiastic... (well, who knows....)
  7. I've only listened to Exai on headphones. Sounds great to me.
  8. can't get over that vocal breakdown in vekoS, one of the album highlights for sure. with most double albums I feel they are bloated and don't deserve the length, not feeling that here. it is a perfect album to do work to, the hours fly by and I'm very productive - thanks adderall...I mean ae!
  9. this is an empirically insane statement. 1) they were never an upbeat band 2) oversteps was not a particularly dark album 3) neither is Exai
  10. Not sure it's my favorite album of theirs, but I think it's safe to say it's the pinnacle of their "wildstyle graffiti" approach. It feels very much like the auditory equivalent of some guy spraypainting one of those colorful supercomplex graffiti images in real-time. Has a very live vibe to it. why is everyone likening Exai to war and evil (Salvatorin). Feels much less evil than Confield. It's certainly Psychedelic.
  11. To me Drukqs sounded very obviously like it was made up out of old tracks that had been dusted off and polished a bit. One of the reasons I never warmed to it. This, less so. If this sounds like reheated oldies, then Untilted does moreso.
  12. maybe more than any other ae work, this blurs the line between what is considered "music", and what is "stimulating auditory input". I want to be critical of the "songs" from a musical standpoint - melody, beats, etc - but even if I was the fact remains that it's just damned pleasurable to listen to, in a very tactile, spacious way.
  13. keyosc is frigging cute only thing that would make it better would be Sean and Rob singing "WAAAAATMMMMMM" a capella over the top
  14. I would love it, if a heavenly angel would answer my prayers, man
  15. i'm not sure the breakdown in Bladelores at 5 min was a good idea...though I'm guessing most will think it "genius"
  16. agreed, love the buried melody, it whetted my appetite for more, and then...wtf? Still digesting the album, it's a big massive beast, but Fleure is one of the most memorable tracks
  17. sound design wise it's lovely. not a lot of melodies tho, or melodies fighting with beats.
  18. lol, that was kind of my first feeling. We'll see if "it gets better", haha
  19. agreed, it's really nice nah...apples and oranges. Quit slagging oversteps you un-subtle beat junkies, lol
