  1. HEY, PEOPLE HAVE SAID "THE REVIEWS SAY"....WHAT REVIEWS, guise? I did a google search came up with nothing? I want to read some other people's cynical, off-the-cuff, ill-considered opinions on the album
  2. This is harsh but interesting. I'm tempted to agree. But I'm still looking forward to digesting the album. MoT was the first Ae "album" that I felt was really pretty rubbish (only listened to it a few times). And Oversteps was quite uneven. I'm not sure they're looking at things as cynically as you suggest...but who knows. As I've said before, Sean seems to have lost his youthful intensity. For some reason I always felt he was the mad genius in Ae, I'm sure he's still creative but I think he's become looser and their quality control has slipped....potentially. Very willing to be proven wrong. The samples feel very "up front" to me, superficially exciting but may have little staying power. We shall see...
  3. you guys are weird. Are the samples really "brilliant"? They seem so-so to me...not dishearteningly bad, but not necessarily good. They just give a brief sugar rush because of the beats...impossible to tell at this point.
  4. edit: lol, her younger brother's name is Bolt. Thora and Bolt. Have to love hippie parents....
  5. I don't think I've seen her in anything since. Maybe she should have followed in her parent's footsteps instead.
  6. hahaha I haven't seen that since it came out. Though I remember it having several good zingers (and an awesome pair of tits? The gothy neighbor, right?) I think it got filed away in my mental dictionary under p for pretentious (probably about the time the young dude rhapsodizes about the blowing plastic bag). I will give credit to Mendes for making Daniel Craig a star, I vividly remember Craig's acting in Road to Perdition, think it was the best acting I've seen from him. I tried watching Revolutionary Road but didn't make it past 5 minutes. The dialogue between Winslet and "eternal pre-pubescent" Leo DiCaprio was mind bogglingly awful. In general I think of Mendes as one of those guys who can make pretty pictures, but has trouble stringing them together into a coherent film that isn't boring (not unlike, say, Tarsem Singh). Plus the pretentious thing. Edit: yeah, Thora Birch...yum.
  7. Saw Skyfall last night. Was pleasantly surprised, as I'm something of a Sam Mendes hater. Although, the strengths of the film had more to do with the themes and writing, than with the direction - which was a bit lackluster, as I expect from Mendes (the action scenes in particular had some weird no-nos, like flopping camera angles 180 degrees). Anyway I liked the idea of making it more character-focused on his relationship with M, that was a good call. Liked Javier Bardem's acting too. Did not mind that the ending was not a "huge action setpiece"...it did drag a bit but I liked the psychological elements of the film. In a way it felt more like a Batman movie than a 007 movie (both the parents being dead, the manor, the theme of surrogate parents...archetypes...). As far as the bad goes, I hate the new Moneypenny, the black chick. It's like she thinks being sultry is constantly smirking and raising her eyebrow and exchanging epically groan-inducing one-liners with Bond (well I guess that last part is the writer's fault). The other "Asian-y" chick was laughable as well. Really terrible bond flick from the "hot chick" pov. Which leads me to... Is Sam Mendes gay (maybe that's why he and Winslet divorced?), or was he trying to subvert the entire Bond mythos? What the hell was up with the leg rubbing between Bardem and 007, and the line "what makes you think this is my first time?" I have nothing against gay themes but I don't understand turning an icon of machismo into (apparently) a closeted homosexual, or at least bi-curious dude? Not to mention that Daniel Craig seemed to be wearing way too much makeup throughout the movie, he looked very metrosexual. Not sure if that were doing it with intent, or if they just didn't know what they were doing but thought tossing in a little "wtf gay bbq" would add some spice to the film. In the end I don't care, but if I was a Bond fan I'd probably be screaming. Though I suppose it is in keeping with Daniel's Craig's cold and asexual vibe. Overall 8/10, was "pleasant."
  8. For shitty album art it's hard to beat the trifecta of quaristice oversteps and exai. I can hear TDR crying out "but...but...we gave you individual per track black and white squares! We gave you paper stock! What more do you want from ussssssssssssss!"
  9. samples sound intriguing. As someone else said above, "I'm worried about how much I like them" - they seem very accessible and up front. I do get the live tour material feel as well. What's up with the melodic one, sounds like a pisstake heh. Sound palette seems quite Gantz Graf/Untilted-y. Still pretty exaited.
  10. i can't get over how stupid the design of that helmet is. Really gets on my tits that the "X" covers his eyes (at least when he's looking slightly upward).
  11. regarding the eye thing, that doesn't even show up in the final test results? At least, my pdf doesn't mention it? wtf?
  12. Your Aspie score: 65 of 200 Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 125 of 200 You are very likely neurotypical I think this means I'm dumb but perceptive? Sounds about right. Although maybe the fact that I can't read the diagram means something, lol
  13. I think it's "situational homosexuality", people were doing ok but the announcement of Exai was like a pretty girl passing by the window of a prison, that causes all the inmates to explode in frenzied buttfucking
  14. Is it normal to feel a strange tingly sensation when one finds oneself agreeing with Joyrex?
  15. I'm absolutely floored. Not that you would have a relationship with V. Snares, but that he would have the attention span to sit through Dogville
  16. I leave a digital skidmark in my underwear, so that everyone knows they belong to me.
  17. that's objectively impossible, their back catalog is just too strong. I'm busting you both for wanton hyperbole.
  18. I have it on good authority that the tracks on Exai are remixes of Sean and Rob's favorite 17 tracks from Drukqs.
  19. wow, hearing this track just made Oversteps click for me! [/sarcasm]
