    The only ad that I'm conscious of being influenced by is that one coke ad featuring the CG polar bears. That makes me crave coke every time I see it in the theatre. Do they still make coke ads with the polar bears?

    Went to the local arcade and somehow managed to nab the #2 high score on Ghostbusters pin ball. The people in my city must be really shit at pin ball, because this was only my second time playing and I am NOT good. Of course... there's always the plausible explanation that the machine got reset recently, taking previous high scores with it. Also, I felt like the machine was mostly playing itself. But whatever. I'm a pinball master, clearly.

    I just mimic whatever sounds the cat I'm with makes/is making. This either freaks them out, or they pick up the cue and we get a call and response thing going.

    I relate with this. I find myself looking forward to the next thing(s) while I'm in the middle of consuming the first thing. I am successfully enjoying digging through the Bowie discog again though. Same boat. I'm not sure what happened to my immune system, because my entire life prior to the last couple years consisted of one cold that lasted an entire month after another. Now I'll start feeling a cold coming on one morning, and it's vanquished by afternoon never to be heard from again. Def an FWS for me though.

    Is there a difference between a "nurse" and a "registered nurse". if not, why does every nurse seem to mention that registered part? Kind of redundant. Unless it isn't. Yeah I could google it, but where's the fun in that. Also... thread idea.

    Yes, there will always be people oblivious to the issue, and so it will continue to not affect them. Right. The larger population (those who care at least) will begin to also use it this way where appropriate, if they happen to encounter people who don't identify with either gender. People like that "prove me wrong" guy will continue to be dinks, and will become the cranky out-of-touch curmudgeons of tomorrow. Not a big deal.

    I'm not sure what the controversy is. People who don't want to identify with either gender need a gender neutral term, "they" has already been used in that context for a long time, so it comes more naturally to people than just creating a brand new term. People who were brought up a certain way may struggle with the grammar. That's fine - they only need to struggle with it if they happen to be friends with someone who expects it of them. Otherwise use the language you're comfortable with. What's the uphill battle here?
