  1. hmm I'm not trusting that one, 31% safe "http://www.scamadviser.com/is-flacit.com-a-fake-site.html" Well shit! I don't know, the only times I've ever bought mp3s/flacs were off of bandcamp. Ever since i got an iPod I've become a pirating monster. It's a good thing too, otherwise I'd have no money (all my spare $ used to go towards CDs).
  2. This came up in google search: https://www.goldenmp3.ru/richard-devine/cautella Though I doubt he'd see a penny of that $2. ...looks like you need to sign up to this iffy site too. This looks more promising: http://flacit.com/album/149224/Richard_Devine_Cautella_2005
  3. It's one of the most alright sounding electronic albums of all time. Most alright is of course Bogdan Raczynski - Alright! Seriously though, that album's like the holy grail of sound design, and once you have it you don't really need anything else by Devine.
  4. hah, that's odd... What albums/tracks are you talking about? No idea! It was a playlist someone else compiled with a few Devo tracks, a few Kraftwerk tracks, and whatever else. Any time either of those artists came up I knew it was one or the other, but had to check to see which. To be fair, I only went through both discographies once at some point in the last couple years, and was not familiar with either before then, save a few more well known songs. Terrible, I know.
  5. I can't distinguish Devo from Kraftwerk until the vocals come in... but then I discover which one it is and it all seems so obvious. (It's a recurring thing on this sanza playlist I've been listening to tonight.) Also, I am way drunker than usual, and waking up tomorrow will suck bad. omg I am going through this exactly. Hence the SP discog listening, which is now being followed up with selections from the NIN catalogue. It's sad times.... although hearing the downward spiral era remixes again is pretty exciting. Bittersweet though, as it really hits home what little I've accomplished with my life. We have some catching up to do ;) I'll be in Vic from the 16th to the 30th of Dec. Just bought my tickets :D Fuck yeah!
  6. Adore was actually the album that got me (sort of) into SP, I think largely because I sought music that bridged the gap between rock/pop music and electronica/industrial the way Downward Spiral did... and coming up empty handed for the most part. It's the album where they were without drummer Jimmy Chamberlain, and rather than find a replacement drummer they opted to go the electronic route, with mixed results. There are a few songs with session drummers as well. Anyway, I do think the songwriting suffered somehow, and they lost a lot of the dynamics they had in previously albums, understandably. It's not terrible, but certainly doesn't come together as cohesively as Mellon Collie or SD. It lost some of the magic, but was an otherwise decent effort considering they had just lost such an integral part of the band. The Machina stuff and Zeitgeist "reunion" is pretty embarrassing imo. Oceania era was much better than I expected, but... if it didn't have the historical ties to the SP legacy, it's unlikely it would be of interest to me. Fantastic new drummer though --I think he may have inspired some musical life back into the Corgan. omg I am going through this exactly. 7. Can confirm. All I listened to was Machina/Machines of the Gods in the first half of 2000 and it was among the lowest points in my life. I pretty much never listen to it anymore despite it being a really good album. Heheh I summed it up to my friend as a "heinously bad album" shortly after listening... I was excited to hear it again though, thinking I may have judged it too harshly as a young music snob. To me most of it sounds like unfinished song demos. It's like Flood mixed Everlasting Gaze then gave up and let Billy do his worst. Machina II had some potential. I'd be curious to hear a version that's actually been mastered. Could Corgan not afford to hire a mastering engineer without label support? Some perfectionist! MCatIS on the other hand... that album is almost a masterpiece. It sort of dies halfway through the second half, but the rest is damn near brilliant. Really enjoyed listening to that one again.
  8. I have the clingiest, most confused new client ever... and he only recorded a couple overdubs with me. Two hours of recording and-- 165 texts!! This, and I'm not even the main producer.
  9. I've been going through the Smashing Pumpkins discography, out of order, for the last too-many-days. First couple days were fine, because I started with MatIS, but I think everything else may be contributing to my dour mood. Especially those Machina albums. Fuck. I wish I weren't so prone to commitment.
  10. All of them. You have 8 hours Lol that would be too much I think Better yet: all of them at once. FWP: no idea what I'm doing on this eve of the hallow.
  11. My cat ripped off the U, (, P, right click, and up arrow keys on my lap top. The little nubbin piece that touches the pressure activated bit that makes the right click work is unglued, so I'm constantly having to place it back on/losing it when the computer tilts too much. That last sentence was way too complicated... but all my buttons still technically work. My keyboard is fucking ridiculous though.
  12. i had the same for a while. i hope it doesnt come back now that youve said it It just happened to me again! I've toyed with the idea of claiming domain names that are typos of really popular sites, which somehow get me money via pop-up advertising for anyone who mistakenly ventures there. But I don't understand how any of that works, and it seems sort of evil...
  13. That's kind of you to offer, much appreciated. I'm actually terrible at venting, i think because I'm used to keeping to myself in general. I tend to put it into music, or bottle it up, keep myself distracted with mundane things, work... If I suddenly feel the impulse to do some venting, I'll keep the PM offer in mind. Cheers man.
  14. FWP 1: I slept on my neck weird last night and it's been hurting all day. FWP 2: most of the problems on my mind lately have been too serious for the FWP thread, but there's no serious problems thread and I'm too passive to start one.
  15. I keep typing in forum.awtmm.com by accident. This is a new thing, but since I started doing it it's a frequent recurrence. *band name: Mistaken Muscle Memory
  16. A client came by with some of them new fangled Skullcandy phones that turn everything into a rumbly nightclub. I was hoping they might be useful for finding issues in the bottom end that might get missed on regular monitors, like maybe a guitar chord is activating the subs when it shouldn't, and that sort of thing. It seems for a lot of albums they just freak the hell out everywhere, but on the Prince tracks I tested them on, every bit that should have a bit of extra rumble had it and everything else was clean. Now the question is, can these nightmare headphones actually help me achieve the perfect, tight bottom end sound on my mixes? I had hoped someone in the know already had insight on this, but my googling only lead me to the expected (and well deserved) ridiculing of SC headphones. They actually add reverb to low end frequencies! Like if I press stop on a track, the bass resonates for a full second afterwards. Stupid! Yet I still think they could be useful for my purposes... I'm just not sure I want to subject the bones in my ears too much more to find out.
  17. I thought the mastering on the leak was superb. I'd be surprised if the official version was any different.
  18. Yeah; just insert semicolons everywhere; rules be damned;;;
  19. Change the "is" to "has been" and it sounds right (prob because "historically" refers to things in the past). that actually does sound better. Also, some prof's love commas whenever they're applicable, in which case "historically, a large..." would be the way to go. Personally I think too many commas make writing seem choppy, so I'd stick with the way you have that part. But my gf's old writing prof would disagree.

  21. Shoot it down, put it in the microwave, see if it pops.
