  1. Go Plastic still is his masterpiece IMO, by far his best album. DYKS is one of the most insanely mind-blowing popsong ever, along with Windowlicker. Ultravisitor-era has some of his finest work - many tunes of the accompanying EPs should have been on the LP (the opener, Iambic 9 poetry, Menelec IIRC and Tetra Sync 13 are such bangers though), and it's a pity the Warp20 tracks are unreleased to this day.

For me, it's been a downhill releases after releases to me, I desperately miss the subtlety of his work before Hello Everything : even for the most radical tunes had tons of finesse to them. I'm all hopeful whenever there's a new one announced, and keep on being disappointed. Sadly (for me) that new one isn't to my liking either.

  2. My jaw dropped during the additive engine part. It's crazy how far you can push a single oscillator, with so little effort.

Zebralette 3 will be all over my upcoming stuff once it's available, from day 1. I can't even imagine how insanely powerful Zebra 3 will be.

  3. @auxien you’ll lovr the new options, impatient to hear new tsrono material using these.

Another top addition is the Scale awareness feature, for MIDI clips and MIDI Fx as well (Meld also offers compatibility here). No need to use the Scale MIDI FX as a safety net any longer if using a chain of MIDI fx in a generative fashion. Just dropping it here, you can now fully embrace how Scale can act as a weighted probability driven transposer when combined to Random, and/or as a note chance utility. All the MIDI effects are rejuvenated by that Scale awareness.

I dove deep into Live’s native generative abilities for a class I teach, and it has gotten a lot more interesting with 12. It’s also worth noting that when going down that rabbit hole, you can feel the initial influence of Max on Live.

@cern anything specific in mind ?

It can get pretty deep if you combine the new Generate / Transform options, multi-clip sequencing across various MIDI tracks, all sorts of note filtering / re-routing with Racks, clever usage of Follow Actions (at clip and scene levels), note chance, velocity deviation, the updated MIDI Fx in creative (or brutally utilitarian) ways... and treat everything as raw data before it hits the Drum Rack. Note that I'm not even mentioning M4L.

Still, Push's mapping for the drum rack + capture is the most immediate way to sequence drums IMO. Or anything really, Capture is a killer feature.

Ps: I opted for something accessible in the video rather than going full computer music. You can definitely push the envelope with the new options though.

Ps2: I think that the countless, subtle refinements Live brings with each major update is the main appeal. I've had 12 for a little while now and it's super pleasant to use. I keep on finding updated details that make me smile 🙂

  5. Title track is the one I like the least. Parallax Mix is pretty great, In a room7 F760 is extremely cool funky' Phex and zin2 test5 reminds me of Bliss 2d G-Major [140.52 BPM], which I still hope will get a proper release someday.

Thanks for the B-day present Richard.

The music of Kindohm, otherwise known as Mike Hodnick, has massively influenced us here at 3OP, and since the inception of the label we've hoped to do a release with him.

    Enter Prompt 3.

Herein, we move through myriad tapestries and textures via crisp analog drum hits, morphing complex harmonics, and the most exquisite of cascading patterns. The result is a dynamic and dramatic narrative, but also an expression of the honed craft of an artisan groovesmith.

The traversal is intensified with the vocal appearance of none other than CNDSD on the titular track Prompt 3. Two computer music titans collide with glitched up and processed vocal cords over beats and sustained oscillations. Haunting, crunching, time-folding, and inspiring.

A varied foray of bangers from the beat-maestro, Prompt 3 pummels, dances, and breathes: these are some of the hardest hitting yet nuanced tracks Mike has ever done, and we genuinely can't stop listening.

    E&N

The album tracks as well as 4 bonus tracks are available to stream and digital download.

The USB archive has an additional assortment of exclusive files including: rare demos, outtakes, and jams, alternate artwork, and Mike's workspace of .tidal and .flp project files

written, produced, performed, and recorded by Kindohm
vocals and vocal processing on Prompt 3 by CNDSD
    mastering by Nil Hartman
    artwork by Kindohm
    photograph by Andrew Bates

It's IMO his finest record to date, I'm so honored @eczem and I get to release it. Beautiful picture by @oscillik, mangled by Kindohm, mastered by yours truly.

    Essential (yup).

  7. I have to create it, like, now ?

It's a stunning album. We've been wanting to release Mike's music from day 1, so it's a huge honor for us to share Prompt 3. In my biased yet honest opinion, it's his best record along Meme Booth.

I'll add that there's load of bonus content with that one.

I've probably raved about this track too many times already here, but fuck... so lush. Thanks Mike.

Don't know if talking about the same Mike here (we might) as the link above doesn't work here, but, obviously :

First time I'm listening to it in years (I've had 1000s of times though) and fuck me, still some of the most emotional lushest pads (and track).
