  1. Might want to get some anthrax vaccines before the anthrax gets a chance to spread and mutate into omicron anthrax, because then the big QAnons would have to ask their QAnon-peeps to go in lockdown or to start wearing anthrax-face-masks. ?
  2. History: Council of Clermont (1095), People's Crusade (1096), First Crusade / Princes' Crusade (1097), Siege of Nicae (1097), Battle of Dorylaeum (1097), Siege of Antioch (1097-1098), County of Edessa (1098), Siege of Jerusalem (1099) History: Eastern Roman Empire conquest of Ostrogoth Italy (535) and The battle for Rome (537) by Flavius Belisarius, military commander of the Byzantine Empire under the emperor Justinian I. Engineering: Retaining Walls Engineering: Mechanically Stabilized Earth Ecology: Beef / Cow Meat / Environmental impact of meat production Fun Fact: Steering a Bicycle
  3. Battlefield 2042 Soundtrack: I didn't play the game, but the soundtrack is rather interesting, however it doesn't seem to fit this kind of game at all though. ^^
  4. Fuzzballs are theorized by some superstring theory scientists to be the true quantum description of black holes. The theory attempts to resolve two intractable problems that classic black holes pose for modern physics: 1. The information paradox wherein the quantum information bound in in-falling matter and energy entirely disappears into a singularity; that is, the black hole would undergo zero physical change in its composition regardless of the nature of what fell into it. 2. The singularity at the heart of the black hole, where conventional black hole theory says there is infinite spacetime curvature due to an infinitely intense gravitational field from a region of zero volume. Modern physics breaks down when such parameters are infinite and zero. Fuzzball theory replaces the singularity at the heart of a black hole by positing that the entire region within the black hole's event horizon is actually a ball of strings, which are advanced as the ultimate building blocks of matter and energy. Strings are thought to be bundles of energy vibrating in complex ways in both the three physical dimensions of space as well as in compact directions—extra dimensions interwoven in the quantum foam (also known as spacetime foam).
  5. Black matter might not exist... Instead there might be some more gravitational physics at work... The hypothesis of Modified Newtonian Dynamics (MOND) Also, I was wondering if we could maybe change this thread into "The Science & Space Thread" ? This way we could also post about: computer stuff, new technologies, physics, math, biology, etc... in here. Might bring more life to this thread, and might expand interests. It's all connected anyway.
  6. I see fear as a cause for the imagination of demons (and monsters), both created by the brain. The more important thing to me is how one handles or copes with their fear or the cause of the fear itself. Some people might experience or might have experienced similar fears as ones own. Asking advice or accepting help from ones family or even a professional is not a bad thing imo. Creating an alternate world with demons everywhere seems more like escapism to me, I'm sorry to say so. Instead it might be an idea to search for the why and how. Anyway these are just my thoughts on the matter. I do wish you the best.
  7. Lucy: The First Mission to the Trojan Asteroids "Time capsules from the birth of our Solar System more than 4 billion years ago, the swarms of Trojan asteroids associated with Jupiter are thought to be remnants of the primordial material that formed the outer planets. The Trojans orbit the Sun in two loose groups, with one group leading ahead of Jupiter in its path, the other trailing behind. Clustered around the two Lagrange points equidistant from the Sun and Jupiter, the Trojans are stabilized by the Sun and its largest planet in a gravitational balancing act. These primitive bodies hold vital clues to deciphering the history of the solar system. Lucy will be the first space mission to study the Trojans. The mission takes its name from the fossilized human ancestor (called “Lucy” by her discoverers) whose skeleton provided unique insight into humanity's evolution. Likewise, the Lucy mission will revolutionize our knowledge of planetary origins and the formation of the solar system. Lucy will launch in October 2021 and, with boosts from Earth's gravity, will complete a 12-year journey to eight different asteroids — a Main Belt asteroid and seven Trojans, four of which are members of “two-for-the-price-of-one” binary systems. Lucy’s complex path will take it to both clusters of Trojans and give us our first close-up view of all three major types of bodies in the swarms (so-called C-, P- and D-types). The dark-red P- and D-type Trojans resemble those found in the Kuiper Belt of icy bodies that extends beyond the orbit of Neptune. The C-types are found mostly in the outer parts of the Main Belt of asteroids, between Mars and Jupiter. All of the Trojans are thought to be abundant in dark carbon compounds. Below an insulating blanket of dust, they are probably rich in water and other volatile substances. No other space mission in history has been launched to as many different destinations in independent orbits around our sun. Lucy will show us, for the first time, the diversity of the primordial bodies that built the planets."
  8. I watched these over the past months before sleeping: Friday Night Dinner (2011-...) Comedy with Tamsin Greig (Green Wing, Black Books) "Two siblings share their Friday-night dinners at their parents' home and, somehow, something always goes wrong." Pretty funny. About family-life. Less surreal. Avenue 5 (2020-...) Sci-Fi Comedy with Josh Gad (Olaf), Hugh Laurie (House), and Zach Woods (Silicon Valley) "The troubled crew of Avenue 5, a space cruise ship filled with spoiled, rich, snotty space tourists, must try and keep everyone calm after their ship gets thrown off course into space and ends up needing three years to return to Earth." It thought it was quite funny. Silly comedy. Disenchantment (2018-...) Adventure Animation. "Princess Tiabeanie, 'Bean', is annoyed at her imminent arranged marriage to Prince Merkimer. Then she meets Luci, a demon, and Elfo, an elf, and things get rather exciting, and dangerous." Didn't grab me. The White Lotus (2021-...) Drama-Comedy "Set in a tropical resort, it follows the exploits of various guests and employees over the span of a week." Quite enjoyable. The family and the head of the hotel are the best parts imo. Squid Game (2021-...) Drama-Action "Hundreds of cash-strapped players accept a strange invitation to compete in children's games. Inside, a tempting prize awaits with deadly high stakes. A survival game that has a whopping 45.6 billion-won prize at stake." It was ok I guess. The Office US (2005-...) Satire-Comedy with Steve Carell (7 seasons) "A mockumentary on a group of typical office workers, where the workday consists of ego clashes, inappropriate behavior, and tedium." Really good. (except for maybe the last seasons) Reservation Dogs (2021-...) Tragi-Comedy "Comedy series about four Native American teenagers growing up on a reservation in eastern Oklahoma." It seems Native American culture and African American culture intermix somewhat. Sorry, I'm totally clueless in that regard. It was ok. Sex Education (2019-...) Drama-Comedy "A teenage boy with a sex therapist mother teams up with a high school classmate to set up an underground sex therapy clinic at school." First season is ok. 2nd and 3rd are thrash imo. Different writers I guess, dunno. I'm not sure if the sexual education is handled any good though, but at least a lot of various things are mentioned. What We Do in the Shadows (2016-...) Dark Comedy with Matt Berry (Snuffbox) "A look into the daily (or rather, nightly) lives of three vampires, who've lived together for over 100 years, on Staten Island." Silly dark humor. I like the movie more, but the tv series is pretty funny. (except for the last season)
  9. Dave Chappelle: The Closer (2021 TV Special) Saw a couple of shows now of Chapelle, but it seems I'm not into his comedy (at all). Rush Hour (1998) (with Jackie Chan) "A loyal and dedicated Hong Kong Inspector teams up with a reckless and loudmouthed L.A.P.D. detective to rescue the Chinese Consul's kidnapped daughter, while trying to arrest a dangerous crime lord along the way." Quite enjoyable, but only due to Jackie Chan's acrobatics and Chris Tucker's silliness. Big Trouble in Little China (1986) (John Carpenter) "A rough-and-tumble trucker helps rescue his friend's fiancée from an ancient sorcerer in a supernatural battle beneath Chinatown." Not my cup of tea. In fact, I thought it was terrible. Sorry, I know a lot of people have fond memories of this movie. They Live (1988) (John Carpenter) "They influence our decisions without us knowing it. They numb our senses without us feeling it. They control our lives without us realizing it. They live." Interesting concept. (that's all I liked about it unfortunately) John Carpenter for me is: 1. The Thing (1982) 2. Lost Themes (2015) ^^ 3. In the Mouth of Madness (1994) 4. Halloween (1978)
  10. So when superimposing these 2 graphs you'd get 1 generation at the peak of each Kondratieff wave and 1 generation at the valley of each Kondratieff wave? So, one generation would experience the rise/golden age of a certain technology/societal change, while the following generation experiences the downfall/crisis?
