  1. booklet is from the original bbc thing
  2. yeah, that's exactly how I feel. I was enjoying it to begin with, but if you were to ask me what the last few tracks sound like, I could not tell you, because after hearing the same thing over and over again, I just started to tune it out.
  3. Okay, I have a request, what is that sound at :20 - :25? it sounds very familiar, but I cannot place it.
  4. who's to say that they're new. i do hope so, but they might just be one of his untitled (titled) tracks. pretty sure that Rephlex has no objection to releasing tracks untitled, so they are probably new, but I guess I won't mind horribly if one of them is untitled 97. It's the one myspace tune I really do want on vinyl.
  5. That had better not be the real tracklist. only two new tracks? and honestly, maelstrom? that's the worst of all of the steinvord tunes.
  6. I enjoy the music totally aside from all this BS. When I hear the album, I don't think about it's release, this thread, etc etc. It's just, IMO both below Monolith's and below Rephlex's standards, and a bit shallow overall. Also, Rephlex has been managed absolutely horribly this year, and I don't see how it's anyone else's fault. If you'd like to expand on your statement, I'd be interested to hear why you think they're free of blame.
  7. The behavior comparison is irrelevant unless you're comparing the records, because you could have said that it was like people being disappointed about the new Radiohead album, or any such situation where there was disappointment for a release that a lot of people were apprehensive about. You chose three brilliant, initially misunderstood releases by RDJ though, which, whether you intended it to or not, is saying that this is on the same level. I don't blame Monolith by any means, because he is talented in his own way, and he doesn't deserve this. It's Rephlex's fault that it's been received this way, and Rephlex's alone. They set it up as a big release, put it out near the end of the year in an extremely sparse year, and it just wasn't good enough to stand up to the pressure.
  8. Are you fucking kidding me? You're honestly comparing this to Drukqs, and you're accusing people disappointed with Welcome of trolling? Drukqs: timeless, intricate, beautiful, still holding up like it was new after 10 years Welcome: basic, fun for a laugh and bit of dancing, already sounded dated on the day it was released. It's not like Welcome is going to sound better with time, so that is totally ridiculous.
  9. Yeah but usually we get good albums as well as the bad ones, whereas this year it's been two re-releases, Gerald Donald's weakest release ever, and Monolith, with Monolith coming at the end of the year. It sets it up as something huge, when it's really not something THAT special. 1999: Boku Mo Wakaran, Samurai Math Beats, We Are DMX, Lobster Tracks, Lactavent, Shipwreck 2000: Red and Blue Boxing, SuperUser, Onclements 2001: The Braindance Coincidence, You'll Never Get Anywhere By Spending All Day Playing Around With That Bloody Drum Machine, MyLoveILove, Wasted Sunday, Cut The Midrange Drop The Bass 2002: Vatican Nitez, '96 Drum n Bass Classixxx, Astrobotnia parts 1-3, Broken Toys' Corner 2003: Amen Andrews parts 1-5, Cylobotnia, Pressure, Rephlexions, Soundmurderer & SK-1 2004: Kerrier District, Cylob Music System 1 & 2, Collapse of the Wave Function, Grime 1 & 2 2005: Analord 1-11, Pop, Quantom Transposition, Wave:CD 2006: Authorized Clinical Trials, Voafose, Kerrier District 2, Sidthug, Pro 188, Amen Andrews vs Spac Hand Luke 2007: Acceptable Side Effects, Ceephax Volume 1 & 2, Project V, Eskel, Confederation Trough, Rushup Edge, Calabi Yau Space, Alright! 2008: R.O.B., Rodulate, Katabatic 2009: Boom Blaster, I.S.C., Plus Ten, D'Arcangelo The Album, Mental Union, We Miss You, The Shimmering Hour 2010: Wave Funk, Some Shit Saaink, Monolith Volume 1, new Analord tracks 2011: Welcome
  10. someone needs to do some fucked up glitch covers of vengaboys songs and use this name.
  11. I wasn't one of the people who really panned it, but I am disappointed with it. I realize it's not some huge artist or anything, but I think the reason that people are so disappointed with it is because it's Rephlex's big release this year, in a year with very little coming from the label. In that position, I don't think it's nearly as good as it should be.

    Death Grips

Came here for the same reason as jefferoo. Reminds me of a more hardcore, less experimental Food For Animals. I like it, but I do see how it could get old after a while.
  13. At the last minute, he decided to mute the duck sounds for the release. When he plays live though, he turns them all the way up. He originally had donks in the songs actually, but then he re-listened to The Tuss, and just swapped out the donks for waterfowl sounds.
  14. is it wrong if you want to believe? also who are you to say that im wrong? unless you are..... eehmmm..... hi richard! Nope, sorry, you're still embarrassing yourself.
  15. Noise is Merzbow, thus the name. C'mon guys, get your act together.
  16. lol @ exaze. always fun to see people embarrassing themselves 3 posts in a row.
  17. I love to dance and I have been to raves and I am not a big fan of the album. it's alright though. unfortunately, I do have to say it is Rephlex's best in 2011 so far.
  18. lol. having emotion and good melodies isn't something unique to afx. my main problem is the music not having any personality. when I hear the tracks, including the ones I really enjoy, I always think "this sounds like __ and __ mixed together" or "this sounds like (aphex/tuss/+10/dmx krew track) but different" and so on, and do not get any kind of personal connection to the music.
  19. Yeah, I agree on the last bit of that. It's ironic that Rich is all about emotion and music not being a technical exercise, and then signing Monolith. I personally enjoyed the album for what it was, but I do wish that I got any feeling of personality, etc. from it. p.s. the bassline on Farewell Frenchman was killer
  20. I know I have heard the name Taffynek before... edit: wasn't Lowenek Taffy one of the myspace accounts in 2009 along with Steinvord and Toellwisk Weklops and a few others I can't remember
  21. Only reason equipment is important to me is that it inspires me. If I already have the inspiration to make something and I'm at my computer, I won't even bother with the equipment, and it will sound just as good. Your work seems pretty inspired as it is, so I'd say in your case, that it is not important, no. Plus, I would definitely not say that that is a bad setup. It looks very easy to jam in and get down ideas quickly, which is really important.
  22. My bedroom studio sucks. sry guys. edit: forgot to include song. I'll put one up here some time soon, so you can see just how well my terrible workflow works (it doesn't.)
