I have failed to get on the Phoenecia train. In 1997, "Randa Roomet" sounded ok to me. When "Brownout" came, I couldn't help but be so bored; believe me, I've rinsed several times since because there is a universal "Brownout" worship on WATMM and I needed to be sure. I bought Castillo's "Expect More From A Past Life" and ran into the same problem. It's just that other people do such dynamic and experimental electro like Alpha 606, Aux 88, Arpanet, and even Quaristice that I have a hard time matching Phoenecia up to it. Can I be helped?

If you don't like Brownout there is no hope for you.

That was shit. It was shit before the electrocuted dog but it somehow went even further downhill. Amazing in its suck, really.

i haven't managed to watch more than a minute of it!

this would be fantastic release, just to think about "a collection of works for film & gallery exhibitions". thank you kind people

i would say to just keep listening to brownout, on repeat. actually arpanet is a reasonable comparison, but brownout is in its own little subgenre; the trick, maybe, it to immerse yourself in the album art

where the hell do I get this?

w_a_.cd, for example.

pbn is on point. it's dark and atmospheric, but really good. I'd say less "beat-driven" than brownout.

scary, but good.

as far as I know there is no legitimate way to get it but I could be completely wrong so don't quote me on that. I think the deal with Echelon Mall is that it was finished in 2008, but they are waiting to release it for some reason or another.

I have to say that I am utterly enthralled by this album. I've been reading the book 'Accelerando' as I listen to this, and every track is mixed with immense amounts of cosmic realizations. I've come to associate all of the tracks with bizarre, futuristic scenarios. I keep thinking of groupminds and foglets and matrioshka brains while I hear these beautifully adamant pieces of music.
