(Tatsuya Nakadai again *nom nom nom*) samurai spy double suicide yojimbo all of the Lone wolf and Cubs some of Hanzo the Razor (pretty funny shit) lady snow blood Okatsu the fugitive incedent at blood pass female yakuza tale sabu onibaba sex and fury blind woman's curse Female Prisoner 701 Scorpion ran seven samurai what i have in my netflicks Q: sword of the beast when a woman ascends the stairs the hidden blade jigoku shogun assassin izo Shinobi: Heart Under Blade goyokin Dora-Heita Scorpion: Beast Stable Yakuza Graveyard ugg i have a dozen more but i have like 350 movies in my Q >< Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

They are quite slow and 'boring' films, though tjere is always very esthetic violent scenes that prevnt you from slumber. You also seem to appreciate ghost stories. I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy Gozu by Takeshi Miike. It's a sort of yakuza story with paranormal or preposterous elements. This is the only film I know that renders a true nightmare like feeling. keltoi Posted February 27, 2009 Share Posted February 27, 2009 you've seen more than i have so i'm getting more out of this. meiko kaji is my main squeeze so anything with her gets my vote. i actually just watched ran and agitator(by miike) at the weekend - both brilliant... agitator is a sort of yakuza version of "the godfather"... loyalty, betrayal, epic and gritty much in the style of fukasaku's work in the 60's. i'm now getting into into the work of reiko ike... also a bit of a legend... so far i can recommend death of honour and female yakuza tale (which i see you've seen). He's a great filmmaker that's been overlooked until recently. Also look for: Afraid to Die Azumi Graveyard of Honor Harakiri The Hidden Fortress Modern Yakuza: Outlaw Killer Ronin Gai Samurai Resurrection Sympathy for the Underdog Taboo with Takeshi Kitano's stuff I'd start off with Sonatine, Fireworks, and Violent Cop. Also, look into Kinji Fukusaku and Seijun Suzuki's stuff from the 60's and 70's, they both made some really great yakuza flicks. Here are some more that aren't samurai or yakuza flicks but I think you'd like: 2LDK Angel Dust Black Snow Blind Beast Branded to Kill The Face of Another Giants and Toys In the Realm of the Senses Marebito Marronnier Nanami, First Love Pyrokinesis Rampo Noir Scoutman Shark Skin Man and Peach Hip Girl A Snake of June Stray Dog Tampopo A Taxing Woman Vengeance is Mine Warm Water Under A Red Bridge Zero Woman series Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
