Roast Dinner

BCM

Recommended Posts

after my pork pie appetizer (see earlier "pork pie" thread), I have now cooked and eaten a fucking fantastic Roast with my girlfriend. we had a corn-fed roast chicken, roast new potatoes, roast carrots, sage and onion stuffing, cauliflower, mange tout, mini corn-on-the-cob and Yorkshire Pudding, all smothered in my delicious home-made Chicken Gravy. to drink we had a South African Chardonnay.

i'm completely fucking stuffed.

i'm now going to skin up.

nice.

Sounds very nice. And I know what a Mange Tout is now!

I keep meaning to do a meat loaf, but I get home too late from work to do it and eat it within a reasonable amount of time...

i have a weird obsession with roast parsnips, to the point that it's hard for me to enjoy a roast dinner without them. roast carrots and roast sweet potato come close tho.

also, nut roast is great as stuffing, not just a vegetarian option

I know... I skipped lunch (ate a few homemade cookies from my bosses' desk, and ruined my appetite, then I go back into this thread, imagining how yummy a roast chicken with new potatoes and green beans would be.

eerie... my wife and I just last night had pork with roast parsnips, carrots, AND sweet potato.

Your right though, the parsnips bring everything together.

Fuck it, when I'm getting home, I'm putting together a meatloaf, rosemary garlic mashed new potatoes, steamed green beans with garlic and mushrooms with onion, and a catsup-chipotle glaze on the meatloaf.

Damned if it won't be ready by 8-8:30PM, but fuck it! Will make tasty lunch leftovers for tomorrow as well!

I was at a party on Friday, and I was talking to my friend Dicky about roast dinners. He expressed his distate for swede, and then this huge Swedish guy lumbered over and shouted "BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU SAY, THERE ARE A DOZEN SWEDISH PEOPLE AT THIS PARTY."

yes, they make the worst of all the new world wines in my experience...

add that i hate the way the country is run and have never encountered a nice south african (as in africaan) person and i've met lots (including my 4 cousins). they seem to be reared as rich, white, arrogant and racist... all helps me avoid that section on the supermarket or offy shelf. quite lol really cos i'm not overly political but i had bad experiences visiting 'family' in S.A.

anyway.... chile, argentina, new zealand and australia all have nicer wines for the same money.
