keltoi Posted July 31, 2009 Share Posted July 31, 2009 i fish 2 or 3 times a year usually in the sea lochs on the west coast of scotland in a wee rib with outboard motor catching mostly mackerel 4 or 5 at a time... camp on the shore, get a big blaze going, cook up our catch and feast and drink into the night... absolute bliss! Guest boo Posted July 31, 2009 Share Posted July 31, 2009 Shit, I was raised country: having family camping trips on the river banks for two weeks while my grandpa played bluegrass on the guitar. For three days or so, we would accumulate catfish and bass in a live well submerged in the river. Then, we would get to the nastiness of turning them from creatures into filets. My mom would dredge the fish in a special cornmeal mixture and fry the bits in a huge cast iron kettel. I don't know if it was my youth or the great times surrounding it, but I've never had fish as good as I did on the river. When only around 30-40 minutes separates a flopping fish to a golden brown delicious nugget, you can't go wrong. I'm not a catch-and-release kind of guy because I don't want to just fish to hurt them and freak them out for 2 or 3 minutes and send them on their way. I can relax by just idling down the river and watching (drinking) Wild Turkeys. I fish for the deliciousness. yea, do any watmm fishermen catch-and-release? round here leisure fishermen often have a stalk sitting next to them, and they give them the fish. much better/less pointless than releasing Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
