dang, i was thinking of buying Reactor before the sale! But I bought Zebra instead (which I love) and i should probably learn that first. Also, I think I heard that reactor does not run well on macs and needs a very powerful computer, not sure if it's true.

Same thing here although i got Alchemy instead of Zebra (during the camel audio group buy).

good idea, zebra's semi-modular approach is easier to learn on than reaktor. that second part isn't true though, reaktor works great on a mac, and really the complexity of your patch determines how powerful of a computer you may need (ie. if you are building a subtractive synth, you'll have no problem, but if you are building a huge crazy generative machine you may start to max out your cpu). but honestly any recent mac will run reaktor perfectly fine.

anybody here buy Reaktor 5 and can vouch personally that it's more stable than the cracked version? Reaktor 5.13 is ridiculously unstable on my Mac OSX snow leopard

edit: on the mac thing, so far im noticing that the mac Reaktor 5 crashes about 4 x more often than the PC WinXp reaktor. but ive never used the legit version so not totally sure

i've never crashed reaktor, ever. and i've used it heavily. sometimes it'll crash as a plugin in ableton, but i suspect that is more ableton's fault than reaktor's. i'd spring for the legit copy now if you are thinking about it. very stable. i'm using OSX leopard. i'm too scared to upgrade to snow leopard so soon.

But why sould I pay 99€ when americans get to pay 99$? I would buy both r5 and massive for 99$ each, but change that to € and the price increases a lot..

isn't there maybe some paypal trickery you could do to make the payment in $ but have it converted into euros?

i'm on a pc, running vista. fixed it though. i had to unplug my external soundcard, open reaktor, change audio device to asio4all (from the default, which i have never had any luck with), close reaktor, plug soundcard back in and then open again. phew!

.. and no, i just outright bought it, pretty silly of me really but i assumed it'd just work right away (like all of my other audio software). luckily it was easily fixed!

i found a rather realistic EMS synthi AKS emulator on that community. it's AWESOME. and i can vouch for its accuracy because i'm actually borrowing a real one from a friend at the moment.
