I'll be just south of London for a couple weeks soon to see me relations, but I'm sure I'll get sick of them eventually (not to mention they of me).

So help me out, watmm, recommend some shops to check out, shows to see, restaurants to try, etc...

i wish!

No, but you can catch me stood outside Sayers 5 days a week between 1 and 7pm. I spend most of my time posting on watmm and offering people sausage rolls, only to withdraw my offer when they get close.

south london eh? I live in south london...to be honest, north london is better for going out and clubs and stuff, south london is a bit more relaxed. best places to go out and party in south london are brixton and clapham. you could also check out corsica studios in elephant & castle - they have good electronic music nights. apart from going out raving, south london is excellent for nice bars and restaurants (again, check out clapham, also balham and wimbledon village).

Here's what it's got to offer you:

Miserable weather, chavs, bad drivers, bad breath, bad attitudes, hooligans, chinese guys selling pirated dvds, unreliable public transport, awful reality TV, womans magazines, fast food.

I literally can't think of anything to recommend. If you get lucky a serial killer will be on the loose nearby when you arrive, so at least something interesting will be going on.

fucking awesome pubs, orchards and homemade cider, amazing countryside, a thousand years' worth of goddamn beautiful architecture, wicked cars and real roads to drive them on, raves on your mate's farm

Croydon used to have great record shops but they all seem to be closing down. :-(

Brixton for the nightlife. They've recently opened a new little venue/pre club pub called The Rest Is Noise which is ace.

er, what's with all this hatred? the man asked for stuff to do, not bitter personal opinions about london generally. to the OP - I put some stuff in my earlier post, but rest assured there is an awful lot to do in london. things in south london I would specifically recommend would include: The Ship pub in Wandsworth/Putney (they have a website, just Google it), anywhere in Clapham Old Town (loads of really quirky pubs and bars, get the tube to Clapham Common and walk into the old town), Plan B in Brixton, Jam in Brixton, The Devonshire in Balham, The Bedford in Balham, er....loads of wicked curry places in Tooting, Richmond Park, loads of stuff! fuck da haterz.

Thanks for all the input, gents. As it turns out I will be staying in Essex instead, but I'm sure I'll hop a train to London at some point.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO... for the love of god, whatever you do, do not go to Essex.
