I hope he goes through with the second part he mentions and rips a digital file from the mock vinyl, and then the real vinyl and see what kind of quality difference there is.

what i really want to know is how to cut my own vinyl records without spending $10k on a lathe, heh.

true. i'd love to have my own stuff on vinyl.

i've actually considered getting together with a bunch of people and splitting the cost of a lathe, and starting some kind of super short run label. i'd love to do it someday!

you need a home dubplate cutter like this:

I think there are other makes too but I can't remember what they're called.

 

edit: this cutter works out to about £5k so not cheap....cheaper than a lathe though I guess.... there was another make that was a lot cheaper I'm sure....saw it in future music or something years ago...
