Treasure Co. Ltd. is a Japanese video game developer founded by former employees of Konami on June 19, 1992. Though their staff is and

always has been small in number when compared to better-known game developers, they remain to be a popular development team among seasoned

gamers because of their reputation for unique and psychedelic 2d games. Just like Capcom or Konami, Treasure has also gained a reputation for their

soundtrack work, namely NON aka Norio Hanzawa's compositions. There is a thematic musical thread that is present in all of Treasure's scores that

evokes a familiarity no matter if its a Sega genesis or Ps2 soundtrack. Even in Konami games where only a few future Treasure employees were present,

the energy to push the enevelope can still be heard especially in Contra 3 or Castlevania IV.

It is said that the 'treasure faction' from Konami decided to leave the company because they wished to create games without being restricted to developing

cookie-cutter sequels and clones of existing types of games. Though Treasure has developed games in a variety of familiar genres, they are most-often praised

for their innovation in high action games such as Gunstar Heroes, Alien Soldier, Radiant Silvergun, Sin and Punishment, and Ikaruga.

While 3d games were becoming homgenous and changing the course of console gaming forever, Treasure remained making beautiful lush 2d sprite

based games full of color and exuberance. The games they produced are works of art in and of themselves (Contrary to what Roger Ebert would want you

to believe about the potential for games to attain this status).

If you are wondering why Treasure is important enough to validate bootlegging their work for you to enjoy, our answer is simple, they have been a

huge influence on our internal creative universe , not only musically but as a whole. Many video game soundtracks have influenced us over

the years, but if we were to treat game companies like record labels, Treasure is above and beyond the most interesting musical imprint. The material

included here is no longer in print and to our knowledge is no longer being sold.

Some sounds that are common today in electronic music can be heard in proto form here, 'Hustle Maruyama pt 1' from Dynamite Headdy has a

breakdown that reminds one of Tom Jenkinson's 'Hard Normal Daddy' programmed drum and jazz fills. 'Museum of Agony' from Stretch Panic sounds

like it could be from Autechre's 'Quaristice' but came out 6 years earlier. Some of the tracks do sound unmistakabley video game like, and would be

appreciated with open arms by most chiptune fans. However this is not merely game music, each song stands on its own as an extremely well put together

composition. 'The Stone Like' sounds like a rompler rendition of Arvo Part, in the wrong hands this use of the same choral patch could come off horribly,

but the results here are stunning. 'Battleship Stage' from Gradius is probably the best example we've heard of fusing together high tempo orchestral

music with sequenced electronics next to Orbital's Event Horizon score.

We present a sampling with many original rips by us of the very best Treasure Co original soundtrack music by Norio Hanzawa,

Hitoshi Sakimoto, Miki Yanagisawa, Nazo Suzuki, Aki Hata and other composers.

Is this legal? It seems like you are putting this out as if it were work you owned or had made.

technically no, although many VG ost websites have most of these available (if you havent been to http://downloads.khinsider.com/ or http://gh.ffshrine.org/soundtracks.php , check them out they have almost everything) on them we wanted to make a small 'best of' all their soundtracks.

no where in the description does it say me or anybody else on our label made it, it is 100% bootleg.
