That was the tune that got me into drum n bass. It was made in fucking 98, there wasn't anything quite like it at the time.

Photek's earlier stuff is also a great place to start.

Then there's noisia.. Just about everything they touch is amazing. Here's a good mix to get you started.

I tend to play this tune at some point at almost every party I'm at.

For some serious spastic and dark dnb, try Current Value. Aphex likes him.

Then there's liquid funk. I'm not really into it these days but I was madly in love with it around 2005.

This is somewhere in between, an old favourite of mine, easily digested. Maybe too cheesy if you're jaded.

Then there's the reggae sounding drum n bass, maybe the most connected with it's jungle roots...

..Which segues into the 420 stuff.

So as you can see drum n bass goes kinda all over the place.

For anyone that's willing to help, I'm trying to get into Drum and Bass.

I only really know of LTJ Bukem and Makoto.

Try doing some searches for other threads on the topics of jungle & drum n bass.

I posted one on the golden era of jungle a while back. The best jungle/dnb (arguably) came out of the UK between 1993 and 1997. If you touch down anywhere in there, you're likely going to hit upon some gems.

The best way to learn the most about jungle is by exploring the labels that were pumping out the best 12"s.

A few fantastic labels are:

Suburban Base

Ganja

Moving Shadow

Fresh Kutt

Congo Natty

Joker

Hard Leaders

V Classics

Frontline

Metalheadz

Formation

Also, check out this site...

It's a collection of fantastic mix tapes from back in the day. Download and listen to as many as you can. That is the best way to cover the most ground.
