how come all i ever see in soundcloud comments are generic positive ones? i never ever see anyone actually say things like "this is pretty boring" or "just kill me now"

not that i would say that for this track. just sayin

i think its cause the main motivation for most people, commenting on someones track is to get noticed by other people? dunno

It's called constructive criticism. I only comment on tracks that are in a style I like, as that way my advice might actually be good rather than forcing it to be something it's not. Just say what you like about it, and what you think might benefit from a change. In the case of this track, it's already pretty good to begin with.

As for the rest of Soundcloud, I have no idea. I think people are trying to be nice, and again, only spend time listening to music they actually like? There's plenty of good music on there to listen to and celebrate that you don't have to waste your time listening to something you dislike, let alone commenting on it. Plus, you know, people have feelings, with the possible exception of trolls. :)

If you can't handle a negative reaction to your stuff, you should just stay away from uploading anything in the first place.

If I just spent ten minutes listening to someone's stuff I'll tell them what I think, even if it's considered to be rude.

edit: track in the OP is quite amazing btw. Not super original or anything, but meh. It's nice. Sorry for derailing this thread even further.

T'is.

The thing is, when you put more effort in your comment, when you type a nice long honest constructive comment (with some destructivity as well,it should be possible) then people will notice you multiple times more.

But that requires motivation.

for example When youre on a long comment-spree for an evening youl get something like 3 to 4 times more notices than when youre on a short-comment spree. Takes more time and thinking and all, but it works.

Honesty pays off in this case.

I often just say what I would change, add, leave out...you know, just advice. It works on bad tracks, so you might get a follower out of a bad producer (in your eyes/ears)

In Belgium we used to have Electrobel. An electronic music sharing forum. People were totally honest in their comments and that was the best way to learn and evolve. We could let ourselves go...t'was awesome.

Lets bring back harsh comments (with some contructivity to keep that hate-bar not to high).

ow and cheers for cheking the tune.
