your brilliant crossword cost me half a night's sleep, but was great fun. but i need to need to need to stop thinking about it now. so

plz enlighten me:

how is "a position unlucky for some" = spl9?

and "periodically last" = lr?

Spl9 is track 13 on Exai, and Lr is 'the last' element (highest atomic number or right-most? I was a bit confused there) on the periodic table.
