  1. documentary about one fo the worst riots in los angeles history- started by one of the most famous ass kickings ever, soundtracked by rap music. shit gets real
  2. surprised how so many people here feel so negatively towards casino. i actually really like it (even though i read the book before i watched the movie). it's not a great movie, but you guys are making it sound like a spike lee joint p.s. i have a major thing for sharon stone
  3. whoa! part 2 which is, amazingly, not the last of this "beat it to death" idea. basically, it's teetering on terminator 2 territory here- complete with the "i'm on fire" ending thing happening.
  4. popular electronics: early dutch electronic music from philips research laboratories (1956-1963): four (4) cds of early dutch electronics. i'm not certain why it's vogue to reissue early electronics in massive sets and even though this is nowhere as massive as the 12 cd pauline oliveros treatment, it's still a pretty challenging compilation to get through. i've heard a few of these songs in other places (probably film or advertisements) but a larger portion was my first time hearing it- and whilst i enjoyed it, the quality (in terms of sound and songwriting) varies- which then makes a lot of sense why these things are packing more than 2 cds per release. pye corner audio - the ever-present hum: the hum in the title should be taken literarily. these are basically exercises in ambience, just a quarter of a minute shy of 15minutes each, of the quietest moments from the black mill tapes (only done with a different set up)- but does that really matter? goat - world music: in theory this sounds fantastic; a swedish band that plays psychedelic influenced world music injecting their own unique twist into it (read as: mixing polyrhythms so you get things like afro-beat influenced krautrock= afrokraut?). the end product doesn't really work out though, with only a few moments of "hey that was cool. do that again"
  5. weird movie that takes full advantage of robert z'dar's chin to sketch a messy plot about a... maniac cop.
  6. yep. glad i could help. in fact, here is another webzine you can send your stuff to: http://www.damned-by-light.com/ not sure how (or why) i left them out. you can find their contact info here

    Now Reading

I read the first chapter of this which was released as a promotion. Seemed good - it's been ages since I've read an Iain (M) Banks novel but based on that, it seems he's still got it. yes- i just read the synopsis of this and it sounded vaguely familiar
  8. peter fonda and warren oates' roadtrip adventure is terrorized by a group of satanic worshipping hicks after they witness a little hoodoo fueled nude bimbo ritual killing in the woods complete with upside dogs. it's also got satan approved mama lara parker from dark (when will it be over) shadows
  9. nice to see night flight in there. loved that show. smash tv? approved
  10. this (suspiciously?) sounds like demoscene music, complete with the visuals. i can see why they're lumping it together with vaporwave, but i do agree it's not the same thing
  11. part two of the article above here
  12. e-mail them at red.venice.records@gmail.com always best to establish first that they're still accepting submissions for review as many of these blogs/sites usually close shop with no announcement
  13. just watched the one with joe pesci and the twins. lol great one wtf? i watched that one about 3 days ago too. i mentioned to my gf that they looked like thinner-yellow-teethed versions of julia roberts. are you hiding out @ my place?
  14. yes, they started up again (they were down for a while). try these: http://brainwashed.com/ http://noisemuzakreview.blog.com/ http://hellorainbowbridge.blogspot.com/ <-- they also distro http://touchingextremes.wordpress.com/ http://esoterrorist.com/ http://auxiliaryout.blogspot.com/ http://decaycast.wordpress.com/ <-- not sure if they're still taking submission. their main site seems to be down (?) hope that helps
  15. hell yeah! one of the cheesiest shows EVER. it's about angels that come to earth to help by bringing "guidance and messages from God to various people who are at a crossroads in their lives". everyone is an extreme goody two-shoes and even the bad characters are cardboard cut-outs from a text book by being "respectfully against" the good guys. harkens to a time when things were much simpler on planet earth
  16. heathen harvest has an exclusive stream of the black leather jesus and crowhurst split tape in it's entirety on their site. http://heathenharvest.org/2013/01/22/heathen-harvest-exclusive-new-black-leather-jesus-crowhurst-split-streaming-now/
  17. ^^ ha! i know that guy 'faker'. he used to release music under the name and here is a noise cassette i can recommend if you like "stinky noise"
  18. i keep this film as an endurance test. second only to this piece of garbage as one of those films that goes beyond the shit barrier into "this is not funny anymore and you're now pissing me off" territory. you've been warned just the trailer
