absolute truth, Ruth (the soundtrack by Artemyev is available too via a rummage) https://www.discogs.com/Edward-Artemyev-SolarisMirror-Stalker/release/7270620 One of my all-time favs, gotta watch that again soon. I've got the soundtrack on CD with a set of other Tarkovsky scores, great stuff.

Watched all of Veep over the last few weeks. Lots of fun witty banter with a nihilistic core. The newest episode about her mother's death was great, maybe the best yet.

There's some great bollywood funk on the Sitar Beat! compilation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QtEqb00sv7c https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LaRursOAaPA

I remember thinking there was a strong connection between Mulholland Drive and Inland Empire, but it's been a while since I've seen either one so I forget the details. I think it's safe to say most of his projects are linked at least thematically.

Badass! I wish I was better at identifying plants, sounds so fun to do some herb hunt hiking (or shroom hunt hiking which kinda scares me) Nice, I love pourover but I feel like my game has been failing lately. The sour notes have been getting progressively worse; I probably just need to coarsen the grind. I have a nice burr grinder and a Hario swan neck kettle but I have this shitty thermometer I don't even bother using anymore. I think I'm fucking up something in my process though, I don't think it's the tools. I'm not ruling out the beans, either. Yeah so many things can affect it. When I'm gonna vary my coffee I try to science it by keeping all parameters fixed except one and changing that one over a few batches to feel out the right level. I usually grind at about 60% fine and aim to start pouring at 200F. Sometimes if the temp gets too low while I'm pouring I'll re-heat the water. Not sure if that's a bullshit move but I figure it can't hurt as long as you don't overshoot.

Mid-day coffee. I've been into pour-overs lately. Recently got a burr grinder and a decent pour-over kettle with built-in thermometer so I can get OCD about grind size and brewing temps. Love me some coffee science.

Love the slow pace and subtlety of the show. Great season, just wish there was more. Chuck's hospital scene was amazing, as intense as anything on BB.

Hell yeah, that's one of the best games I've played on my phone. Lara Croft GO is good too! Same kind of gameplay, bigger levels.

Good shit prdctvsm, love the detail on that foliage. I dug up some info on this Julia set formula, z = z^2 - 0.5925/z, that makes a figure kind of like a sierpinski triangle, and I put together a Processing sketch to generate it and made some GIFs by wiggling that constant back and forth.

Nuearz - Face Lift Listening to this for the first time and loving it.

Vinyl has been fun. The shoehorning in of 70s celebrities is annoying, but it's worth watching just to see Bobby Cannavale on a nonstop coke binge. And it's fun seeing Ray Romano in a dramatic role, he does a good job imo.

I'm getting back into Gene Wolfe's Book of the New Sun series - I read Shadow of the Torturer a few months ago, took a break, and now I'm starting Claw of the Conciliator. I love these books. Really fantastic prose, and some great sci-fantasy concepts.

I'm totally burnt out on superhero movies, don't plan on seeing any of the ones coming up (including Bat v Super). But I did like Netflix's Daredevil, and I'm looking forward to season 2 coming in a couple days. I've enjoyed that show way more than any of the Marvel films I've sat through.

I've been replaying Metroid Fusion on a GBA emulator on my phone. That and Advance Wars. Advance Wars is amazing.
