Masters of Sex - An interesting concept that I think will suffer for being on Showtime. Luther - Not bad per se, but I'm not sure why anyone likes it more than the millions of dumb ass cop shows we have on American TV.

I'm actually going to finish Ulysses this time, I swear.

Huh, that reminds me, I don't think I could move to a place without a real winter. Having said that, Spain is probably my favorite country of all the ones I've visited.

All it would take to get me to leave the U.S. decent job in country with decent public transportation and bike lanes, preferably in or near a massive city. I'd also like to hear fewer gunshots at night, which is a challenge for American cities.

I'm beginning to understand how Star Wars fans feel about George Lucas. Why can't Ridley Scott leave well enough alone? it's just going to be another overly slick, plasticized capitalization on yet another untouchable, unthinkable. why not remake the shining or a clockwork orange? as usual, money influencing everything for the worst. if there is any hope in hell then the they will need to do what nobody has done with sequels, prequels etc and try to capture the actual film quality of the original; using the same process used to create the original. same film, effects, model making and so-forth. if they try to use the current formula then this will surly fail and if they don't get key character from the previous film to make appearances or stand as main players then it will fail. if they get the green lantern guy then it will fail. it's just the same as in music. if you want to create an identical 'feeling' then you must use the same process. the they will most likely not do this and because of my strong sex feelings for this film; i will then stalk the ridley scott and do horrible things to him and end him before he puts his dirty little fingers on the alien or the legend If they did it with the exact limitations of the original, I'd probably go see it just to be in that world again. I'm not convinced at all that there is more to tell of this story though. Not everything needs to be demystified. I'd be able to tolerate a Darren Aronofsky or Park Chan Wook remake of A Clockwork Orange, just to see how uncomfortable things could get. There was a remake of The Shining for American TV in 90s that stuck more closely to book. It turned out the way you'd expect.

Allow me to be the last person on Earth to observe that Bioshock is the shit.

This gets better with each listen. I need to revisit some of his older work ASAP.

I'm pick up Mass Effect 3 where I left off about a year ago. I loved ME2, but this just seems so tedious. Also planning to finally play through the original Bioshock before I pick up Infinite.

have you emailed other students? some of them may have experienced this prof's style already and could help you out. I will, but it seems like at least a couple of other people are confused as well.

One of my grad school profs is incapable of writing a clear syllabus and I have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing for class. Of course, she is also the one who never answers her e-mail.

About 1/3 of the way through Infinite Jest and something like 150th on the library waiting list for Bleeding Edge.

Sort of Pynchon for dummies. NS has never been a great fiction writer, but his books are always brimming with cool ideas.

I've seen that on a few other comics as well, definitely a misprint.

Sammy Eto'o being brought out cold storage. I've missed seeing this wonderful lunatic the last few years. -
Nothing he says about his own music ever makes any sense. He called Splazsh "R&B concrète" when it came out.

The Grant Morrison Animal Man Omnibus just arrived in the mail, can't wait to get started on it. I started reading DC books again just in time for the first New 52 issue of JLA. It's some of the least imaginative comics writing I've ever come across. Wonder Woman and The Flash are the only New 52 titles that seem to have come through in decent shape. I completely agree about Saga. I find all of Brian K Vaughn's stylistic tics really grating, especially the dialogue. Prophet & Mind MGMT are much better SF books. Fatale is really a great book, but my favorite Brubaker & Phillips project is still Criminal. Criminal is fucking amazing, so glad I shelled out for the Omnibus versions... I enjoyed Incognito a lot as well. I haven't yet gotten to Fatale but I've been meaning to. Batman Legends of the Dark Knight '93 & '94 Halloween Specials Legends of the Dark Knight #1-6 and #10 Batman: Full Circle I just picked up the first Incognito trade from library, looks awesome. The other Jeph Loeb & Tim Sale Batman stories are fantastic, but I haven't read either of these yet.

I'm reading it for the first time after having seen the anime years ago. Looking back, the film feels like it's pretty incomprehensible without the manga.

pretty much, did you see Legion of Doom? That one was pretty good too, centered around Batman's secret file where he finds a way to immobilize or kill each justice league member if they were ever to go 'rogue' I haven't seen any of the other DCAU movies yet. I'll check Legion of Doom out next. i'm curious for the new film; regardless of what others have said about it I didn't like it, but I don't regret having seen it all. I'm big fan of Refn's other work, though.

Awful Only God Forgives - 2/10 Laugh out loud hilarious. Best use of the term "cute little cum dumpster". Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox - 8/10 Definitely the best JL movie that's ever going to happen. Spring Breakers - 7/10 Terrence Malick meets Skrillex.
