  1. Looking at this whole mess I realize that the reason authoritarian govts happen so often over and over is because fascist/authoritarians are willing to do almost anything to get in power. Whereas in democracy there are sets of unstated rules that wouldn't be broken if the parties in question held up a fair-ish election on their principles.
  2. Wow, it looks like they are smashing together names and phrases of everything that the alt-right hates and hoping something will happen. So many conservative buzz words.
  3. As crazy as Trump seems to be. I don't think he has an interest in being the one who started the second civil war. The dude is just a conman who claims to be a business man and has had tons of money his whole life. I think if someone from the lower or middle class was in Trump's position, with his "ideals" then there would be a good chance marching orders would have already been underway. There's also the fact that if he did ask for that, it would be quickly stifled by the armed forces, and then Trump would be charged with attempted murder of tons of people. Lol
  4. For me it's just mostly about where the overton window is, and how difficult it is to move to the left. In 2016 it was definitely more to the left. Now in 2020, after 4 years of constant propaganda from both sides and fighting in and between "both" sides, it is to the right. There are like twice as many alternate narratives now than there was 4 years ago. Both parties have done an excellent job of obfuscating the truth. I'm not sure how much is deliberate from the democrats, or if it is just something that is occuring since democrats have had not much to do besides react to what the party of Trump is doing. Trump has successfully shifted politics to the right. I have no clue how it can go back to the left either when you have a hollow democratic party who's best attribute is that they aren't Trump. Goal 1 is to find a way to get rid of all of the fake news narratives, and then worry about more progressive policies. But it's hard when the centrist dems also have gotten into telling half-truths and not picking their battles right when Trump does something stupid. They ended up complaining about everything, which led Trump supporters to come up with the "Orange Man Bad" meme. In 2016 the election was about electing a more populist candidate than the typical Republican or Democratic candidate, and the two 'populists' were Trump and Bernie. Though Trump was a pretend populist because he realized back then that's what the people want and where the wind was blowing, and he really was nothing like Bernie putting their policies side by side. But they were still both populists. But that was the narrative. That's when Bernie should have been elected if he were ever going to. Even with a senate and congress against him. It was the best time. Now in 2020 the USA is in full backpedal mode. This election was solely about getting Trump out of office. That's it. Actually caring about policy was mostly irrelevant. That's just the simple truth. I am not sure what 2024 will hold. I have a feeling it will still be similar to the 2020 election. Regardless we need to be more strategic about it depending on who is running and their chances of becoming president.
  5. Everytime Sanders got an interview on a liberal media network CNN it was full of gotcha questions and also misleading questions, so liberals who just keep up with the large networks are going to think the dude is socialist. Seems like every time I talk about Bernie with a liberal in their 40s and up, they are convinced the guy is a socialist. And then after Bernie loses they LOVE to have him on to bring over us crazy communist liberals. In 2016 ( and maybe 2020 idk I stopped paying attention) he got more screentime at the larger media networks when he was endorsing Hillary. All of that leads to obfuscation. No wonder when the primary comes around people are hooked into different narratives, and it's more than just the liberal or conservative narrative. There are like.. 8. HOWEVER as some people have pointed out, Sanders should have said he was a social democrat. Not a democratic socialist. I think he chose the latter because it had 'democrat' first. Big mistake.
  6. I may seriously consider changing my party to Republican just to make sure Trump doesn't get through 2024 (probably not but I can think of scenarios where I may). I'm normally a Bernie guy but at the moment I am much more worried about fascism rising than social democracy. I'm no longer sure if our country is in a place where social democracy would win with all of these crazy Trump supporters being able to vote... well MAYBE Bernie could have won, but the senate and congress would be against him on both sides, he would get very little done, and then they would point at Bernie and say "Hey turns out that socialism doesn't change a thing! So vote for the bland centrist or the crazy fascist please!" and if they win a single election afterward they will work at undoing whatever he did. When it eventually happens in 3 decades it needs to be ready. It's important that Bernie keeps bringing the conversation on our side back to healthcare, ridiculous college costs, etc. But that has taken a back seat for me into trying to stop the slip into fascism. At this point I just want Bernie to go chill with his family and drop being engaged in politics so much. USA doesn't deserve him. He should just work at keeping his ideas on the table for someone else to pick up in 20 years. If these idiotic Trump supporters ever lose power and most of the country regains its sanity, then I can go back to actually voting for what I want, and not against what a bunch of authoritarian conservatives want.
  7. I think so. I can't believe my hope is that the Republicans take their party back from these authoritarians who don't give a SHIT about the process. If Trump managed to flip enough votes this way, all hell would break loose. I'm seeing a few comments by conservatives who are totally down with this saying "WELL IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE SYSTEM YOU SHOULD CHANGE IT!". Fucking idiots.
  8. Funny how Trump said more people voted for him as an incumbent president than anyone else in history. Yet he fails to point out that the most people have voted against him in history! That just sums up Trump so well.
  9. Is there any remotely legitimate election fraud in any state? Heard something about 2600 uncounted votes which had more for Trump. Not sure how valid that is though. I really hope there isn't a pathway to a coop where "Oh we found 3000 votes thrown out, so now we need to throw out 5,000,000 votes"
  10. I do hope it becomes more entertainment for dumb people, than a strong media force like Fox is. I don't know how much more the country can take being stretched to the right.
  11. Can't wait to see how far right Trump TV will be than fox. He jumped on the FOX NEWS SUCKS SO COME WATCH MY BS train pretty quick after he realized he will be unemployed in jan. His gullible supporters can't see it's just theater to get them to watch his shit. I often wonder how I am even distant relatives of these people. at the cost of every citizen in the USA and 300,000 dead. Wouldn't that be something?
  12. all your base are belong to Covid
  13. It will probably be 80 million in 4 years. I'm just glad that democrats have shown they are still more prominent than conservatives, even if they beat their own voting record.
  14. Yeah he never has come off like the really wants to be there. I think he was forced into it due to potential jail time otherwise. Which to would explain the way he has been acting beyond just having a massive ego. He is hoping that there is some large scale election fraud somewhere, and so he immediately came out swinging, making his base as angry as possible so that maybe fraud could be sussed out from somewhere. I bet if his debt magically disappeared he would want nothing to do with the presidency, and if he had no debt of any kind he wouldn't have run in 2016. If he makes it through the next 4 years... in that he is still 'rich' and not in prison, 99.4% he is running again, because he has to.
  15. As usual it would be funny if it weren't horrifying.
  16. I thought it was 40% of Republicans. Maybe it depends on where you're looking. But 8 in 10 just seems like too much since almost half of republicans do not really like Trump. I'ma look that up. I am wondering just overall in the general population really because if almost half of the population thinks it was rigged, I honestly think there may be a small chance of a coup of some kind.
  17. random question but where are statistics that show what percentage of the population think the election was rigged, not just Republicans. really hoping it's under 20% overall.
  18. Fuck Trump. Free Speech is important, but still I wish there was a way to stop people like Trump from spreading conspiracy theories.... perhaps if you can prove that they are doing it in as an ulterior motive and they themselves don't believe it. Really it isn't much different than driving recklessly on the road and getting other cars to crash, it's just more abstract. As it indirectly leads to the death of many people. Directly or Indirectly, Trump has killed many people. edit: BTW I don't think it could ever be a thing as you could slippery slope it and give people power to abuse it I am sure. I just think there needs to be SOMETHING there besides just the fact checking conservatives don't care about.
  19. Just read a funny comment about it: Trump’s hair went from gold to silver because he came in second place. #TrumpLost
  20. I'm going to pretend I just didn't read that. Lol
  21. Okay so about Trump's hair suddenly turning grey. Why do people keep saying his normal hair dye is fading. Seems to me he dyed his hair that way to elicit sympathy from his voters that the loss was difficult on him that his turned his hair grey keeping in tradition that after a presidency hair tends to become much greyer.
  22. Conservatives also keep bringing up specific people in instances where they claim fraud occurred. Thing is, they need 5 million of these instances, not 5. Fact that MAGA people think one or two questionable people after nearly two weeks of looking, means the whole thing was rigged. So stupid. I wonder if they know it's bullshit in their subconcious, but they just want Trump to have a second term, so they fool themselves into thinking 2 instances of fraud means 5 million instances are now justified. I guess this is why Republicans like making high school super easy to pass.
