  1. Thanks for the compliments guys :) Yeah, I changed my sig to have the track he DL'd and liked, for now. He's listened to all of them in my spotlight, some a few times, so I wonder which ones he fancies besides chromatic hash in particular. yeah, I wonder what compelled him to click on my name in the first place. I actually think he's never really done what I've did in chromatic hash ( i am not sure), at least not in the aphex releases, which may be why he likes it. Well, a lot of those methods he has, I am talking about the second half of the track specifically. He tends to concentrate on what he can do with acid basslines. I.. did a bunch of weird shit ( I've written the method down somewhere) and made bits of audio with frequency shifters, making sure there's audio information in a good swath of frequencies, and then turned them into pseudo-acid lines. Chromatic Hash is sampled frequency shifter central. The reason the track feels the way it does is the methods and mindset I had while making it. These days I do acid basslines more, but I need to get back to the other way of making those formant sounds. that's what it feels like. I was wondering if any other musicians could give me a similar comment and me feel the same way. I'm not sure there are since aphex is 60+% of why I even make music. A few would come very close though. I'm trying not to let this get to my head you know :P
  2. Aphex listened to a few of my tracks and downloaded one.. (the only downloadable one) Made my day. I walked around work with this stupid grin on my face. A few people stopped me to ask if I was on something. I could not get it off (the grin) for anything. One guy assumed I had just got laid. Told him "No, better." and walked off. He just had this quizzical look on his face. Sorry, I had to post this somewhere.
  3. Alright thank you Stimpy Doo. I am downloading it, will likely listen to it several times as well. Philosophy honestly may be the most important thing about music, as it drives you general direction,vs the technical skills which allow you to achieve that direction.
  4. Ghosty, dude, wtf. spoilers much? There's a questline in the game?!? And you can get fucking STUCK on something? And jesus man, there are KNIGHTS ON STEPS why would you not give additional spoiler warning for that?!?!? That sounds like an AMAZING idea but now when I come across those knights on steps the feeling isn't going to be one of euphoria having run into them totally blind.. unfriended on facebook.
  5. He just wants attention which people are giving him.
  6. wait what? maybe a link to make it more clear because that sounds interesting.
  7. The title track is my favorite track. It's just a really fun song, and that's the purpose of it. Second is probably the 'best' which is Xmas evet. I actually don't like minipops a ton. It's a good track, but... I don't jive totally with it. Just me. Over time I've gone from listening to the whole record a lot, to rarely listening to Minipops, papat4, the filler tracks pseudotime, 180db, . I listen to the others a good bit still. Oh, and I rarely listen to aisatsan..a..thing I went through a period a few months ago where I was just so burned out on the album I didn't listen to it for like 5 months. Then it's back to feeling semi-fresh.
  8. srs, where did it go. Like, it hasn't disappeared surely? Are they just hiding it?
  9. the old lady in that pic has a fake AF smile. That's the face you make at the dentist.
  10. Already happening - they are creating a movie based on the "Hasbro Cinematic Universe" that includes GI-JOE, Transformers, and other Hasbro toy properties. are you serious? I mean it's cool that we have a ton of cinematic universes, but like... where is the originality :o
  11. lol. I always thought Bernie didn't have much of a chance anyway. So I wasn't disappointed by the other day really.
  12. I'm curious, what part of Texas are you in? I've never seen a truly "white" Texas. The plains are pretty diverse. Southeast Texas, east of Houston (where Joyrex lives heh). A lot of the towns around here are kinda segregated, schools are mainly 80-90% white or 80-90% black. Not because of anything official, people just tend to live with similar people. The school I went to had ZERO black people except my freshman year, where we had 1. But the next town over is 80% black. The most black people we had was when Hurricane Katrina smashed New Orleans, and so lots of temporary people came here, we probably got like 15 people for a few months. Yes, that's the exact feeling I'm getting here.
  13. Where I live, it's a CULTURE thing. I've lived with racists all of my life. Most of my immediate family are racist to different extents in private. Literally everyone except my Dad. But I still love them because they're family. And all of them except my dad are trump supporters... heheh. So I have very good reasons for believing what I do.
  14. Calling most Trump supporters racist is incredibly closed minded and misguided. I know and am friends with many. They are at least somewhat racist, except one. I would call them misguided. They are otherwise nice people. Just because you're a racist doesn't mean you're an asshole. They grew up in a certain ideology (one I used to subscribe to when I was 13/14 or so until I learned to look things up) and are unable to break out of it. They think they're superior to black people and mexicans. As that is, to them, a problem where I live. They are also xenophobic of muslims, even though they have like a 50x higher chance of dying by driving their cars to work than a damn terrorist attack. I am merely observing what I see around me. I don't necessarily like what I see. It may be different up north, but down here, MOST do have at least a slight superiority complex when it comes to race. Trump SPEAKS to them because he's saying what they want to hear. I've noticed that the conservatives who support Ted or Kasich, those I know personally, are not racist. You should try to convince me otherwise instead of calling me close minded. >.>
  15. omfg one more thing. I feel back for you guys up north, you have to be dragged down by us southerners electing asshats like Trump (and Hillary as her biggest constituency is in the south).
  16. can't forget the fact that 30% of Americans like Trump. I know a LOT of trump supporters, and I'm sure only 1 isn't a racist. In front of me too as they just assume other white people around them dislike black people since they're pretty 'safe' with that view in Texas. I am not over-exaggerating. I have sat on the sidelines of 2 friend's family discussions about how black people take advantage of the white man, with more colorful vocabulary, and not much nuance.
  17. Trump is a sociopath, but I also get the impression Hillary is a sociopath. I mean, we don't even know WHAT she believes. She's held several positions on so many issues. The way she acts is so robotic, and reminds me of Mitt Romney. Thankfully I'm not in a swing state (conservative state of Texas... yuck) so I'm not forced to vote for her and hate myself if she wins or loses. One thing is for sure, Hillary is a centrist, or center-right in her politics (according to her actions, not her words). She's going to be a somewhat more conservative version of Obama. (Obama imho is a centrist in the US, and center-right on a global scale) Hillary very obviously doesn't care for the social issues, they are only there for her to 'take advantage of' such as her initial anti-gay marriage stance. This election has made it PAINFULLY clear that the system is more than just a little rigged, and that the DNC aren't above pulling bullshit like changing polling times ONLY IN BROOKLYN to make it harder for Bernie to win. I bet he'd have an additional 100 pledged delegates if the DNC hadn't been pulling bullshit after bullshit this election. Also never realized how overall CONSERVATIVE the country is. The democratic party I now consider center in their politics ( barely liberal ). I wish Elizabeth Warren had run instead of Bernie. I feel like she would have had a better chance. She's also younger.
  18. Yes I agree. This is exactly what I've started doing with my music. Fighting the urge to just release a track on SC. I used to very much work on only like.. 3 tracks at a time, and 2 may make it onto soundcloud, then its onto the next 3 tracks. This has changed where I'm working on lots of tracks at once, and they get release when they're done. I really prefer this now that I've started doing it. I think people are more excited for your stuff when you release in groups of tracks vs 1/2 every month. And yes it is an urge to release on SC. I've kinda fixed this by making a secondary account to post some WIPS.
  19. I wanted to Kickstart MFM and ABB5... no interest, no dice. oh, I never heard about it, or remember hearing about it. Probably just kinda went under the radar. I feel like it might work for MFM. Then again he's supposed to release it or something. He has like 15 records he said he wants to release. No obvious progress on any of them xD I hope he still has time to release the next aphex twin record I know he's working on. I bet in 2017 or 2018 we'll see it.
  20. I have tried this. All of them (who are into music or make music) are afraid to critique me. I tell them I got over being upset in any way a long time ago, but I never really get anything useful from them. Actually I do have someone I bounce tracks to on the internet though that definitely helps. He is right like 70% of the time about the shortcomings of a track, and after he tells me something that may be wrong, a day or two later I'm hearing it. Sometimes I worry that I am projecting the issue into the track though. Oh well. it's important to have a number of ways to clean the palette. which is what this threads about. It's not so much the feedback they give you. It's more the situation it puts you in. If you're with a friend and you're actively listening to the track without anyone talking at all you should be able to tell what needs fixing. Also, a healthy amount of cynicism goes a long way. Def recommend this. Tough part is getting thick skin! I JUST started learning the musical aspects of things. Surprised it took me so long as the tech aspect can preoccupy. Playing the piano and sent out a melody i thought was good but a friend critiqued. i didint take it well. i realize practice makes perfect but how much practice did aphex need? melodies were pouring out of his ass when he was 15. I like to think I've gotten pretty tough skin. Or at least it just doesn't bother me like it used to.
  21. nu uh i'm the biggest prodigy ever. aphex move out da way, plz I love you sign your name on my chest but then MOVE OUT THE WAY... respectfully
  22. Yeah for the past like 2 years I haven't really played video games as my interest has waned, but with the rift it's coming back :). I love the fact that I'm able to play single player things again without it having to be an amazing game. I just played competitive games for a while, but after some time they lost their luster and began to all feel samey, especially those Moba and FPS games. Yeah, I beat SM3DL just a few months back, they're very similar. I wish Lucky's Tale had more mechanics, like the long jump and things like that. Ways an experienced player can get around the environment. Or maybe suits where lucky can fly with. It's kind of basic really. I just know if this wasn't a VR game I wouldn't play past the first level. But since it is i'm on world 2 :) VR is making me feel like a kid again, at least in terms of video games. I find myself laughing a lot when I play it. It's great.
  23. So far I've played -Half Life 2 (beat this a while back in the dk2 i borrowed.) -Currently playing 'Chronos'. Great game, I'm impressed that Oculus has exclusives this good. -Lucky's Tale, which is a platformer. Very fun, though it makes me wish I was playing a 3D mario game in the rift. The gameplay is a little above average, but the fact that I'm playing it in a rift makes it twice as fun. A general rule I've found is that the rift makes any game twice as fun :). -I've played Project Cars, that's fun too. -BlazeRush, which is kinda like that SNES game where you race RC cars, except you're hovering over them. In the rift it looks like you're racing small toy cars that can blow each other up. Once you get to try one again you'll see what I mean. I also own Elite Dangerous which is the 'star' game of the rift, but I haven't gotten around to playing it yet. There are also a ton of fun games I haven't tried yet. Not in a rush as there isn't a ton out for the rift yet. That is probably the biggest downside going for it. I mean, there's plenty to do, though there just needs to be more variety.
  24. Really enjoying various games on my new Oculus Rift thingy
