I thought I read a quote that he loves it when people hate his music or something Anyway when it comes to rdj and ae, the albums I don't like at first because I don't know wtf is going on I end up loving the most. This happened with draft, confield, drukqs, etc. And now draft confield and drukqs are my all time favorite albums ever along with geogaddi. Drukqs I almost want to say is my #1 ever by far, it's just amazing. and that might be true. I doubt it though. what's the best way to protect yourself from average reviews (particularly when you're not used to them...)? pretend you don't care. the guy is a genius, the amount of effort/skill he put into Drukqs was astounding & to be told your work isn't good even by us mere mortals would disappoint him surely. fuck it. just a theory. probably bollocks.

your avatar is a perfect companion to your post. just stop it and you are good to go. if there's one thing that syro is all about is being yourself artistically, so there's no use in trying to replicate that. Enjoy yourself, fall in love, feel good. Music will follow. +1 on both counts. When I heard Syro I thought there was no point in me making anything ever again but a few days later I'm making desperately average tunes the way I want to make them without thinking whether it will sell/be popular with people.

Same happened with my girlfriend. Played it to her last Saturday and she liked nearly all of it. Theory - Richard's next album will be a brainmelting fuckfest due to the increase in interest from the mainstream.

+1 Think he's released this to show that he can still make a decent tune (and to make a few quid...) Although I don't think the stand out tracks are as great as some of the classics I do think this is his best album as a whole. Fully expect to see the return of brain melting Aphex on the next album(s).

ATM Funk - Bass line is fucking groovy! Off/detuned synths are awesome as well. Great combination.
