  1. The new tracks (that weren't on the Soundcloud dump) are underwhelming... At least the Rephlex roster is being rereleased though
  2. 100% - I find that my thought processes are loads more rigid when entering hits/notes into a DAW. "This should go here, this goes here" etc - Whereas with a piece of hardware I just think "Lets try this..." Without getting in too deep I would say (for me) that a computer/DAW process is conscious and hardware more playful/subconscious.
  3. New monomachine / machinedrum hybrid with some more in depth FM fuckery. Elektron pls...
  4. That softpop and 0-coast combination...
  5. Don't like the Digitact aesthetic so happy this isn't wicked. Is the Octatrack v1 out of production? Surely they can't just be redesigning it and asking for £1,200+? Likely will have some Overbridge stuff but I don't give a shit about that.
  6. I'll be interested if it has more outputs and midi sequencing capabilities (16 tracks would be nice :)).
  7. Rytm arrived I've sold a lot of 'classic' gear to get hold of this and it is most definitely worth it. The bass is wicked and I'm hoping that it will work nicely with the monomachine where the digital frequencies can cut through. Anyone here combined the MM with the AR?
  8. The monologue is dope... I think it's capable of being a future 303. Very live tweakable and relatively easy to create something weird.
  9. Most of the settings on the big sky weren't that interesting but the hall and cloud reverbs were dope. Was my 1st reverb box with my 1st synth (101) and I was making pads with it
  10. +1 Question for the class. Favourite reverb hardware? I've used a Strymon blue sky for a bit but sold it. Looking back that was a grave error. Waaat... Somehow I felt Strymon (and I suppose neunaber immerse ting) pedal users were life users, but I guess not. Software convolution reverbs are nutz, so that's my favorite type. Only hardware I've owned are current Behringer RV600 pedal (great bang for buck), and a Digitech rack unit like 15+ years ago (which had a few lush presets). Back then, I really wanted a TC Electronic M-One, which sounded luuush... It seems like technology is so hardcore now, that any reverb hardware is good. And then it's like, even the most "digital sounding" 90's reverbs are cool, so I suppose... -Is it possible that NO reverb unit or effect is bad?! Yeah, I think I sold it to buy a synth or something, can't remember. Big mistake, was extremely lush. I agree with software convolution reverbs. The Ableton ones are wicked. lol, it probably is harder nowadays to find a bad reverb or effect!
  11. Ha true, that's not what I meant though, I meant it's easy to just whack it on everything straight away to quickly get a good sound meaning everything you do has this one reverb sound throughout. The raw oscs sound pretty meh on the A4 so it's easy to want to get something sounding nice straight away before you synthesise it whereas I think you get better sounds synthesising how you want it then add the effects to taste. Rad little odd track dude. Are you delving into the performance side of it yet? This is where it starts to blow your mind where you can take analogue synthesis on this machine. Also it's easy to forget about parameter locks on this box because you're thinking about melody and the types of melodies usually associated with analogue synths, but when you remind yourself, every time it's a eureka moment. Never before could you have an analogue synth jump and squirm about so much in such a small space of time. Hope you're enjoying it ha With this track I added more/different reverbs to each individual track afterwards (in Ableton) but I know what you mean. I only got it yesterday so I'm reading the manual, playing around with sounds and then combining them with others I like. Will likely do this and live recordings until I want to do something with more structure/song like. I don't use the parameter locks per-se (by holding the button down and tweaking) I prefer live recording mode where I can tweak. I wasn't going to do it initially but I ended up recording 4 separate live recordings for each part of the track so that I could edit via the joystick. Anyway, it seems like a great synth. Does traditional bass, leads, pads very nicely just falling down this weird abstract rabbit hole. Made something earlier that was even weirder than that 1st track (it has drums so I've decided it's an Autechre c-side...) but I love the combination of the sounds/reverb/parameter tweaking and the joystick. I thought the monomachine was my most fun synth, now I'm not sure (will look to combine the raw digital with some nice pads at some point).

  13. Their attention to detail, knowing what they want to do and knowledge of their gear is what makes Squarepusher, Aphex and Autechre still stand out in the world of electronic music. Inspiring but depressing.
  14. lol, you can't overdo reverb! I like the dark reverb but I don't think it's the same one, seems deeper? I've just put together a track, this is totally the opposite of what I had in mind when I bought the synth but I dig it.
  15. The Analog Keys has fucking L U S H reverb.
  16. Selling stuff to buy a Rytm so I obviously bid and win an Analog Keys for £750... Guess I'll have to sell a bit more.
  17. Andertons won't be getting a Rytm in until mid July so I cancelled the order. Went through my 'studio' and put a load of stuff on Ebay so that I can hopefully buy a Rytm and then eventually get an Analog 4. I didn't realise that I was such an Elektron fanboy but their music making process works with my brain.
