  1. had to go to the DMV yesterday to renew my license. made the appointment a month ago. more than a month ago i think. all by appointment. masked. stand outside until they let you in then sit and wait until they call your number. didn't take long. once i got in i waited maybe 10 minutes. it was a basic renew so no test or any of that shit.. but had to take a new photo so had to take my masks off for like 45 seconds. i wore 2 masks. a cloth mask with filter in it and a medical mask over it. anyway.. sitting there for that 45 seconds or whatever it was.. no one within 10 or 12 ft of me. i was in and out of there in like 20 minutes or something. it's a pretty big open room. dividers up everywhere. but felt claustrophobic still. took my temp like 10 times today. it went up from 97.7 to 97.9 and i'm ready to go make out my will. rona stress is real. i'm fckn tired and want some red wine and a nice hand rolled cigarette with bali shag tobacco but all my vices are out the window because (insert helth meme guy). an ice tea big enough to swim in would be nice though. with equivalent sized xanax if anyone has a time machine or teleportation device look me up yo. i'd like to a game system and to play cyberpunk 2077777 but i think it'd just make me more horny/lonely. also i haven't played a video game in like a century. can't imagine what it's like working in a hospital. fuck.
  2. i've thought about this a lot because i like dance music and sometimes accidentally a techno track. i think the reason it seems hard is because the people who do it well have a really amazing feel for the dancefloor and know what works and what doesn't etc within their genre or wheelhouse. i've made some here and there and typically the simpler tracks with decent arrangement work better. problem is i get bored often when making straight forward techno so start changing things and it becomes something else. i think when doing techno type stuff it's better to work fast and have a jam approach. set your kick and hihats and make some movement and then everything on top is where the development happens. shrug. my 2 cents is it's easy to make sounds that work but hard to make them all work together to be engaging. coincidentally i made a pretty simple techno track the other night and just need to edit/mix it. i haven't spent any time on a dancefloor in fuckn forever so who knows though.
  3. oof. https://deadline.com/2020/12/los-angeles-covid-19-l-a-just-56-adult-icu-beds-left-orange-county-0-icu-1234656346/
  4. ahem, the correct term is "Cyber Goth".
  5. biden yelling at civil rights leaders. this guy needs a race whisperer in his cabinet. he doesn't get it. he's still campaigning or something. it's not personal just shut up and listen you old fucking codger. videos like this make me believe he doesn't understand where we are as a country/culture and what needs to happen.
  6. oh poor milo. lols. https://www.advocate.com/politics/2020/12/14/milo-yiannopoulos-i-lost-everything-helping-put-trump-office
  7. that started long before this election cycle as well. could bernie have won? idk. when breaking down all the demographics etc etc it didn't seem like it but with support from the DNC etc perhaps. the socialism tag has stuck hard at this point. lack of nuance in the conversation as usual. this primary really came down to the south and they loved biden. young people didn't come out in big numbers and the olds did. the next 20 years will be different. changing demographics. surprisingly a lot latino/latinX/hispanic people voted for trump in places like texas.
  8. short answer: marketability. vanilla candidate has broad appeal. safe. experienced. tracks well in various voting groups. hard to sell someone new to the public and get them to oust trump.. or at least that was one line of thinking. but biden won everywhere in the primaries. the south cemented his road to victory in the primaries.
  9. big doubt. he's a trump worshipper. just that he refused to sick the justice dept on anyone trump farted towards. barr loves his abuser dearly.
  10. stage right or viewer's right? lightsabers and hacky sack edited in to the video would be fitting.
  11. ^^^ but something like 72% of republicans think trump has hard evidence of voter fraud. so, he's done a lot of damage.
  12. this story was well covered a while ago.. this link s the first that came up an summarizes.. https://www.timesofisrael.com/not-nazi-enough-proud-boys-leader-wants-group-to-fully-embrace-white-supremacy/
  13. a lot of them are actual nazis. "western chauvinists". they don't often come out and say it but they want a white euro ethno state.
  14. it is. when i read it i thought the title story was the weakest of the bunch. I was a DFW junky and i guess i still am. i reread all his stuff when he died which was heavy at times. i should reread the Lobster book. 'Oblivion' is some massive heavy feels. it's the big sad IDM of books in hindsight. there's something about how he hyper considered everything from a thousand different angles. a big honeycomb of thought. my current fwp is not being able to figure out which modular jam to edit. distill it down to the good bits. ?
  15. i was mostly relishing in the opportunity to link that DFW review. When i got that book, "Consider the Lobster", i'd assumed that review would be one boring read but it's actually a real fun page turner that blew my mind.
  16. AGNB on the stage w/a mic. dude is everywhere.
  17. the Pedantry has spoken! You're all sentenced to 3 hours in WATMM Detention reviewing Bryan A. Garner's A Dictionary of Modern American Usage If you'd like to read a review of this work, as well as engaging looks at other real world grammar related topics, I recommend: "Authority and American Usage" A 62-page review of Bryan A. Garner's A Dictionary of Modern American Usage. Wallace applies George Orwell's "Politics and the English Language" to grammar and the conditions of class and power in millennial American communication. While discussing the difference between descriptive and prescriptive grammar, Wallace digresses to discuss the legitimacy of Ebonics as opposed to "white male" standard English. Originally published as "Tense Present: Democracy, English and Wars over Usage" in the April 2001 issue of Harper's Magazine.[3]
  18. trump getting dosed and coping w/the aftermath would make a fantastic livestream.. once he's out of office.
