  1. lol the comments under that video are both hilarious and infuriating. in other news, US is up to 1.5 million doses given each day https://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/covid-vaccine-tracker-global-distribution/ seems like this thing is really starting to take off. covid cases and deaths seem to be dropping like a rock. probably a combo of vaccines + "covid season" (or w/e) coming to an end...
  2. i mean if a rando DJ drops Ptolemy it's something special. that's a fairly deep cut to hear at a party (i guess depending on the type of party youre at)
  3. yeah i'm listening right now. absolutely fantastic stuff RIP
  4. incunabula and especially amber.....tri repetae as well i love all the complexity of the new stuff, but i just love the sound of the early 90s gear.
  5. just watched this scene. how did this shot make it into the movie? this is some off the cutting room floor type shit
  6. this is one of the more interesting UFO stories to me. either it was a collective hallucination between 60+ kids, many of whom (IIRC) still claim what they saw was real....or they actually saw something that day
  7. rewatching LOTR trilogy for the 20th time. i just can't believe how good these films are lol. the way they depict the world created in the books has to be one of the best book-film adaptation in cinema. the scene in the first one in the mines with the belrog is so well done.
  8. i'm completely obsessed with his podcast he has with dj douggound and vic berger. it's called "office hours live" check it out if you enjoy his comedy. it's like 300+ hours of content.
  9. he's definitely faking the awkwardness a bit. he was on tim heideckers podcast a month or so ago and they talked about this. he's generally a pretty awkward person, but it's definitely more of a persona on the show. i like the show but the voiceover awkwardness bothered me a bit for some reason.
  10. just copped an APC40 for super cheap and banged this one out yesterday evening. feels good to jam out a track instead of drawing in notes and copy/pasting in arrangement view on ableton... btw anyone else just love the TAL Sampler? one of best purchases i've ever made...it's magic.
  11. can hear the autechre influence. great stuff. is there a generative process behind making stuff like this? i just can't wrap my head around it. it seems like its ever changing and evolving. do you live jam it with hardware/modular? or is it like setting a set of 'rules' on certain parameters and it sort of creates itself?
  12. office hours live w/tim heidecker
  13. watched nolan's new one 'Tenet' last night genuinely of the worst movies i've seen in years. - dialogue was way too quiet, drowned out by constant explosions and sound effects. - acting was comically bad at times, both due to bad acting and a bad script. - the plot was so incredibly confusing i don't see how anyone could possibly understand what was going on after the first viewing. i think nolan has surrounded himself with yes men. there is a point where a film can be so confusing that it becomes a negative experience for the audience. i can't believe no one watched this and said "chris, it's hard to understand what's going on at times."
  14. born in 91 when i look back at my life thus far, it almost feels like it's divided into three distinct sections: pre-internet, pre-social media (post-internet), and current. recently i've had this feeling of longing for the "pre internet" days. but now in reading these replies and thinking about my answer to OPs question, i realize i've been mostly just longing for the "pre-social media" days. reading all these replies has jogged my memory a bit. i love the internet. stuff like wikipedia, youtube, google maps lol....it's nuts...and incredibly useful. (imagine explaining any of that shit to someone 150 years ago) it's the social media that sucks (imo) hypothetical: what would happen to the world if all of a sudden facebook, twitter, instagram etc. seized to exist? would the world collapse? would the world change for the better? ive been micro dosing mushrooms recently and have noticed this exact feeling. it's incredible. the only way i can describe it is by saying it feels like the feeling you get when you remember a good memory from your childhood, but that feeling is being felt in the present moment by your adult self.
  15. can anyone update me on what twoism is saying? their site is tough to navigate tbh...
  16. so detroit. great stuff man
  17. FB was easy insta was harder, but not bad reddit is the one i can't get rid of for some reason....and i know it's toxic
  18. dan carlin made a great point regarding right wing nut jobs in his most recent podcast. before the internet, these fringe ideas were not spread nearly as easily. shit like q anon, these ppl didn't have much of a voice. the only way you heard about stuff like this was if you came out of the grocery store and saw a flyer on your windshield, or if you saw someone holding a sign on the sidewalk lol. now they have free reign to spread lies and manipulate desperate and gullible people to not only get money from them, but to control them for their own gain. we're living in an age where jim jones and marshall applewhite from heavens gate have free reign to reach out to billions of potential victims. idk where we go from here.
  19. lol there are definitely small differences. i couldn't quite match the pads in either track, and the kick is too quiet in Xtal. His versions are glued together much better imo, and also have much dirtier sound from being "mastered" to cassette tape.
  20. I used the DX7 for pads toward the middle of Xtal and throughout Ageispolis
