Never thought I'd see the day when Boards would become mainstream enough for Rolling Stone Magazine. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/boards-of-canada-return-with-tomorrows-harvest-track-by-track-20130531 A new low, in my opinion. -

Then they should release the digital editions. Warp have had more than a good run with this, milked it for all it's worth. Time to let it go. -

Thanks! No worries. Sounds like the guy who took it had his finger over the mic. -

Me too, but are we really comparing this tepid pastiche to Steely Dan? Yeah, I like a couple of tracks on this but its quality is nowhere near Steely Dan. Actually, with all the dough they had for this album, they probably could have hired Fagen & Becker to play on it.

Daft Punk, on the other hand, is one of the world's most lauded artists, with million dollar budgets and a seemingly unlimited access to legendary collaborators. Yet they end up recreating an orthodox form of disco that has been frozen in ice for the last 30 years. But isn't that the whole problem with bands like this? The reason they have million dollar budgets and access to legendary collaborators is because they have huge audiences that have to be catered for by producing the stuff that attempts to appeal to everyone and ends up pleasing no one. Having said that, I quite like this. Whoever mentioned Daft Punk in the Boards thread, thanks.

I've never heard of this band until they got mentioned in the Boards thread. I'm surprised they have a thread on Watmm.

LOL they must have been so pissed when they found out ... I think they made some sort of compromise with Warp: Ah. Sorry. I see you already posted about iTunes date. -

Wouldn't be at all surprised if this gets a digital release earlier. iTunes says June 9th. -

I'm kind of glad now there wasn't a ltd edition thing. It would have sucked if I'd missed out because I live in a part of the world that is usual asleep when States/Europe are awake. Still, at least I can get my bonus track on release day. Assuming there is one. -

Interesting that the makers credit 'Dave (I'm a real traditionalist), even though the track has never been officially stated by the band. -

It's really weird to think this album has caused such a stir (and rightly so) and yet seems completely unknown outside of this forum. That's fine, I guess, but I would like to see this artist get some major acknowledgement for such a stellar piece of work. It's great to a big hit on here but it needs major PR for the artist and SKAM to reap any financial rewards. You have to sigh at all the crap that gets hyped up by Pitchfork, Boomkat and all the other on-line outfits. And yet this maybe the best album to come along for a long time. -

Well nearly the end of December now. This was album of the year for me. Haven't heard anything with such a sense of identity and beauty since BOC's debut back in 1998. -

Why hasn't Pitchfork reviewed this?
