  1. god bless you all. i'm not going to think about this another second for the rest of the week. or at least the times it does emerge in my mind will be more like flutters of the time i once did consider visiting the movie theater. mere flutters. haha.
  2. I know, my comment is mostly meant to frame my depth of ignorance. Still I'd take mostly any REM record over any Cure record. Less up it's own ass.
  3. I'm not hating too much. I've definitely viewed them as another U2, very corporate, full of shit, etc. Talking Heads at least had some legitimate punk spirit throughout their whole career. The Cure aren't bad, their first few albums are quite good. Don't take my vile hatred at face value, I'm a filthy spirit doubting all things. Roxy Music on the other hand, fucks sake. Avalon is top 3 at least. Probably will be my #1 by age 30.
  4. the cure are shit, period. well, they're half decent. 100% favorite? probably something by the Pixies. to be fair My Life in the Bush of Ghosts should have come out in the 90s.. yea. GREAT band but very take it or leave it
  5. prefer UFOrb. a bit more punk. the orb really captured something weird.
  6. honestly i don't think his new stuff should even be spoken. his old music is really fucking good you can't write this beat off: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SeiXM92Udw the techno animal collab has aged well. weird music. techno animal is weird overall, i don't even want to know anything about the guy behind it.
  7. Started watching Battlestar Galactica last night. Found myself shouting at the TV screen in ecstasy. BRILLIANT! Then after the 2 episode miniseries either it got a little less interesting or I was too drunk to keep track of what was going on. Going to take up from where I ended last night. If STDS9 is Cybotron... BG is Underground Resistance... And 2001:ASO is Ligeti. If only there were as many people trying to push experimental science fiction television and film further into the future as there are techno and electro artists. Imagine the possibilities. BG really does take it one more step in that direction. I hope it stays interesting.
  8. Sketches and Spells came out 8 years ago. Still sounds the most innovative thing I've heard in a while. Are the other Focus Group records good? I'll check them out either way. I'm loving this one, very inspiring and good.

  10. I think the show faltered because it became too obvious that it was honing in on my emotions by manipulating the very fabric of the characters in between season 1+2... in order to follow a specific emotion pattern. That's just my theory though, I don't want to offer my explanation for why I feel that way.
  11. stopped watching Downton Abbey at episode 3 of season 2 after blasting through season 1 in a single day or two... I realized it was fucking with my head and manipulating my emotions a really vulgar way. I guess I overreacted though, I still think Season 2 starts off really weak compared to the brilliance of the first. Now it's picking up, and I'm really glad I turned it back on. The show is a soap opera in structure to be perfectly honest, though it's much more than that as well. I'm growing to like the Thomas character more this season. This writer wrote Gosford Park which I suspected had something to do with it, but that takes it to another level.
  12. fucking IDM Assholes. should have kept releasing classics because now the best thing I've heard in years is this Burial EP and hearing these drum breaks just makes me realize how different things are now. I really miss the old days where music could unabashedly blast me into the stratosphere and bring a joyous smile to my face, because musicians like Jenkinson were fucking avant garde techno psychopaths making this extremely fast techinical computer music that really nobody could have expected, really pushing the boundaries... anyway, just some emotion from the bottom of some British guy's projection into my own suburbican soul
  13. I don't feel confident this is TJ or RDJ. the drums sound like TJ...and RDJ too... and the acid really doesn't sound like RDJ to me could be anyone though proba- definitely TJ before RDJ. "maelstrom" sounds great OK well "Ontrackv2" directly samples I think Greenways trajectory and it sounds very much like Jenkinson. who knows, could be someone new, I don't doubt that our new generation contains people on the same level as those guys. i'm sure the past 10 pages already have been over this.
  14. certainly my favorite slowdive record/. that isn't saying much seeing i think souvlaki is kind of 'emo' apart from good songs, and their debut is just all around terrible emo style. that's just my opinion on it though. pygmalion though was on a completely different level from those, i'll be returning to it for the rest of my life if onlky for 'crazy for you' because the atmosphere is so specific to that timeat decade.
  15. loving Downton Abbey. episode 2 into season 2 right now. it veers rather close to soap opera material. i found out my grandma is a fan of masterpiece classics... still, i love watching the show. what can i say.
  16. i'm officially a 'cunt' and i'm somewhat proud of it
