  1. i'm pretty sure this album is going to be terrible. human after all and the tron soundtrack were both lackluster, boring. the only good output they've had recently was their live album, which was amazing. i don't think they can pull off another homework or discovery though. edit: i obviously hope that they do though.
  2. yeah i know, i just wanted to feed into the whole "idm = magical autistic superpowers" mindset that a lot of people seem to have here. i must have missed this conversation? autism is a good thing? anyways, these "tests" if we assume they work as they claim only indicate autistic tendencies, not an actual autistic diagnosis. I mean, I know people that engage in OCD behavior once and a while but they aren't literally burdened with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. They are just really really anal about cleaning up their shelves. some people use "autism" as an excuse for their perceived social inadequacies and to distinguish themselves from others. in addition, some people with autism do think they are superior to so-called neurotypicals (i like the term neurotypical, but i don't like it being used as a noun). have you ever visited an aspergers forum? you'll inevitably see some members posting about how NTs are inferior humans. here's a thread that sums it up pretty well: http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread588498/pg1

  5. such is life Yeah, I guess I should have learned that by now. It just never ceases to amaze me how how little people care. it's not all people. chalk it up to luck, i guess. once in a while, you will find someone like yourself!
  6. maybe they just have nothing left to say, musically
  7. what the actual fuck?! =/ Please get to the bottom of this ASAP. uhh no thanks, i don't want to get more mystery blood on me. edit: my mom thinks it's squirrel period blood.
  8. i was walking down the sidewalk to my front door and i saw my cat, so i stopped to pet her. suddenly, i heard rustling in the tree branches above me and felt something drip onto my head and arm. i thought it was rain but then i looked in my arm and i had like five drops of blood on it. the fuck.
  9. she probably couldn't get to sleep because of nervousness. this makes little noises a lot louder to her, making it more difficult to fall asleep, and she might've even been roused from sleep, which can be infuriating when you're having a tough time falling asleep. maybe invest in a loud fan for your room to prevent this from happening again. they can provide a pleasant layer of noise that covers up outside sounds that can be jarring.
  10. i had a burger cooked medium for lunch and now my intestines hurt. not looking forward to the aftermath.
  11. that's the sort of stuff that looks good on mannequins and models but in real life it's impossible to pull off.
  12. i have the gre tomorrow and i didn't study for it. is this bad
  13. I'm sorry... =( Feel better soon. thanks. fever just came back. shivers are multiplying through me.
  14. it's my day-off and i got sick. fever of 38.5*c. awesome. i do feel better now but it was like three hours of shivering and sweat and feeling like i'd puke. i hope it doesn't come back.
  15. no, women who display those traits are not classed as autistic. rather, people on the autism spectrum tend to have very specific, borderline obsessive interests, usually in science and technology, so having those traits might, in some circumstances, indicate that someone is on the autism spectrum. i hope everyone notes that throughout my posts in this thread i have always qualified any autistic traits as POTENTIAL indicators--this is done purposefully by me to show that the test is not an absolute "you are autistic/not autistic" measure and not because i'm unsure of what i'm talking about. autism is somewhat related to sex differences (at least, this is what baron-cohen posits). this does not mean women are less scientifically minded. in fact, autism does not mean one is scientifically minded. high functioning people on the autism spectrum simply tend to gravitate towards fields like engineering or computer science (as the wiki article i linked to mentions). why is this? it could be a multitude of reasons, likely related to levels of systemizing.
  16. this might interest you as a further explanation of why autism and sex are potentially related: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Empathizing%E2%80%93systemizing_theory
