  1. There should be a word for when someone commits an act of kindness that has the unintended consequence of hurting its recipient(s). I'm going to go with "committing an act of goodill"; an example of goodillness. For instance, my friend was "thawing" some ground beef in the microwave for me to use with my ramen yesterday. Unbeknownst to me, "thawing' in this case meant leaving the microwave on high until I arrived to open it more than 5 minutes later. Any skin to come into contact with this bowl would burn immediately, which luckily for me was only my index finger in this case. Instant agony, blistered within seconds. Getting that bowl out of the microwave and back to my cabin proved to be a bit of a challenge. The ramen was greatly improved however. Worth it.
  2. Consider the more progressive "white recycling".
  3. Never realized how similar that song was in arrangement/production to Bryan Adams - Everything I Do (I Do It For You) - another cheese factory that I definitely appreciate. Also, if I couldn't see what those Scorpion guys looked like while hearing the song, it wouldn't be half as cheesy. So much 80's stuff was like that for me. I'd hear a song and maybe kind of like it, but then the music video would appear and I'd be like "wtf is this shit." Rush is the worst example of this. Music vids definitely hurt popular music in the long run. Here's an even cornier lyric vid for that Scorpions inspired B Adams tune:
  4. True. Doesn't seem to be the case where I am (super progressive, super polite, and no one seems to want to interfere with that. Even the most desperate among us seem pretty considerate). I don't even remember the last time I witnessed someone espousing overtly racist/homophobic views here. So it's especially weird seeing what the climate's like in the US. Seems like another planet to me.
  5. I bet he knows how to cook a pizza.
  6. I managed to stabilize Ableton by fiddling with my soundcard settings (did some things that would cause other recording programs to be less stable... this shit seems so random sometimes).
  7. ... but of course, if I load the project I immediately get an "out of memory" message, which crashes it automatically upon opening. Lovely. Where's my gun. WHERE'S MY FUCKING GUN.
  8. The mix I'm currently working on has gotten to that point in complexity where every little thing I do crashes the fucking program now. I HATE it when this kind of shit starts happening. Guess it's time to bounce everything down... fuuuuuuck youuuuuu
  9. I really like getting a glimpse into Ken Marshall's method. He's definitely got a distinctive style. Kind of funny that his vocal treatment in this case was removing everything identifiable about the original vocal. It could've sounded like Ministry, but turned into post-2000 Skinny Puppy/FLA instead (who he also had a hand in mixing from time to time)
  10. Awww. Well that's kind of neat that they're testing it anyway. Hopefully they won't find a way to somehow muddle the results and make it completely untenable. I will pray that their voodoo magic somehow works. With my dick.
  11. Give me sum.
  12. ... or maybe that's just mixing at a level I'm satisfied with while my body/mind feels ready to fall asleep. I think that's what's hard.
  13. Mixing at a level I'm satisfied with is hard.
  14. Pretty sure Depeche Mode snuck the dog yapping keyboard preset into the chorus of "A Question of Time"... which later swells up very subtly like a string stab in the outro (barely perceptible). Respect.
  15. So I guess at least a dozen of us are going to be watching Akira at some point this week.
  16. That soccer field. Such a good idea. That's football, for all you wankers.
  17. Guns n' Roses is really fun driving music. (Chinese Democracy doesn't count... it's fun in a "hahaha this isn't very good" way. The other albums are legit bad'ass for speeding around in an automobile.)
