  1. All This Mayhem Skateboarding docu about these 2 young Aussie brothers who came and dominated the US skate scene for a few years, battling with Hawk, living the life etc. but then their lives start going so incredibly down the toilet it's hard to salvage anything with a plunger It's funny, i had never heard of them, yet was vaguely familiar with the Skate scene back in the day - but it slightly touches on the fact that they were ostracized from the community, or rather the big companies who were making money off the sport harrowing tale of what the drugs will do to you if you let them/10
  2. probably late, but only stumbled on this recently when he was announced for an Irish festival - cool track but even cooler video
  3. Lucy Extremely entertaining/10 Maybe it's just because i wasn't expecting much - I had this feeling going into it that it was really poorly revived? Kept expecting it to suddenly take a nose dive and go in a different direction, but keeps the throttle on throughout Noah Again, really wasn't expecting much at all, but having heard from a few friends that it's more of a sci-fi than anything perked my interest - goes on far too long, but pretty entertaining overall, nice to see it grounded somewhat in the original bible story. drunken and naked noah/10
  4. The Swimmer Wow, this was great! Such a forgotten gem! Extremely basic plot, one sunny day Burt Lancaster decides to swim home to his house, using the pools of his rich elite neighbors. Extremely dream-like and surreal. Burt plays a stormer. Defo try get a high blu-ray quality version, the restoration looks superb. Happy slow motion montages/10 [also big ups for After Hours mentioned earlier, great flick!]
  5. couple stills from a video i'm working on for my band, shot on super-8 then some post-processing fun!
  6. really nice shots! all very tasty, this one especially stood out for me keep it up!
  7. I picked one up a couple weeks back It's almost overwhelming the amount of diverse presets and edit'ability it has, defo deserves time put aside to sit down and understand/figure it out...which i have not done too expensive to simply dial in a random preset and use that as your verb...which is what i'm doing
  8. yo crew, quick MIDI question... I can't seem to find a way to set the MachineDrum to only listen to one MIDI channel (as i'm using the THRU port to send MIDI to my SlimPhatty) Bought the zaquencer and trying to set them all up and this MIDI channel thing is standing in the way - it's playing the SlimPhatty data as well as it's own Looked through the manual and read through forums and cant seem to find a solution - seems the 1-4 MIDI channel bracketing system is there for a reason, but still ain't so helpful in this case... any ideas?

  10. Vanishing Point Loved this. Very dream like, pretty ambient yet enthralling at the same time. Feels like the baby of a Lynch and Malick one night stand. pep pills/10
  11. where to buy please I like it alot. cheers to you sir (and bronchuseven) - there's a few cassettes of it available from Illuminated Paths: https://illuminatedpaths.bandcamp.com/album/dialler-redial
  12. lovely stuff bronchuseven, like the shading made a trippy new video for my bands new single:
  13. It truly was a pleasure to watch and listen! Even the doc itself posses a nice ambient vibe, eno music drifting in and out scattered with lovely deep quotes from the man himself - also loved the super-8 'stock' footage scenes. -That Invention.of.Dr.Nakamats doc was also a nice watch - although it really starts to paint a sad picture of the man, delusional and very out of touch with the people that surround him alright gentlemen - have a treat here for you all... friend showed me this the other day - the back story is that this is a legit film, the guy who stars in it is the one who wrote/directed/produced (probably even edited) - so a real "The Room" sort of affair here. This cut of the film was uploaded a while back and taken down again, but someone saw it at the time and downloaded it, was then re-uploaded to Dailymotion ... http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xvnq3f_the-celebrity-stylist_lifestyle [can't seem to embed dailymotion, but it's worth the watch]
  14. Dang! 2014 Leviathan or 2012 Leviathan? If it's the latter I've been somewhat looking forward to re-watching it again properly, however i'm always putting it on the longest of fingers - the first time I saw it (or rather 12minutes worth) was randomly popping into it knowing nothing about it and being swooped up in overall gritty aesthetic and sound...then the power cut and they couldn't restart the film, which funnily enough somewhat added to the experience... Blue Ruin Wasn't really taken by it - really nice cinematography, and even more impressive after learning it was shot on a shoe-string kickstater budget, so fair dues, but it just didn't really shake 'the revenge flick' tropes enough for what it was going for, was it trying to be art house and a lil' postmodern? If so, didn't really work - standard revenge film that was nicely shot.
  15. the guys voice and voyeur esc' camera work are great

  17. Her Jeezz, pretty disappointing, feels like a big missed opportunity. It provokes such big topics yet seems to be more concerned with fashion, hipness and male crying. Nothing bad really ever happens to him either, there's not really any conflict, sure he breaks up with the girls, but whatever - Chris Pratt's character seems to only exist to tell us how much of a 'great guy' Phoenix is, feels like it's Jonze subconsciously writing himself into the film and patting himself on the back. A.I. evolving and reaching a higher plane of consciousness is visualised by Phoenix crying, c'monnnnnn son. lame/10
  18. apologies - it seemed to be removed just as i posted, recent Kraftwerk documentary - all about how they're more influential than the Beatles...not as good as i had hoped, seems a bit bare, but not bad if you dig the 'werk (there's a few random sound drops/mutes in the video, mostly over parts of music) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CspJ-g7SN18
  19. have not watched, but assuming its great: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z66DDAKsUCU
  20. Whiplash was good but it didn't give you much to chew on after it was over. It's like one of those films that feels really good in the moment then after its over you just sort of forget about and go about your day Indeed it did not give as much to chew on as something such as Ex_Machina, which is bringing up big and tasty discussion topics, but as most oscar season films go it wasn't so bad - it did drift back into my mind, albeit just thinking about how messed up the characters psyche was, but it still made some impression Locke Went into this thinking it was about a hand edged British gangster doing his dirty deeds over the phone and yelling out profane threats etc. but was quite surprised to find it was the exact opposite, following a Welsh man trying to sort out some mundane real life problems...but funnily enough its just as gripping and entertaining. very enjoyableeee, but gosh darn, when you think back over some of the dialogue - on paper it must have seemed like the most potentially boring cinematic experience, but great non-the less! 3 Ciders/10 Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! Was really looking forward to this, but was a tad' let down. It's got a really strong visual style, and is fairly crazy, but just a bit empty overall. It's funny, anytime the girls are on on screen you're completely distracted - in shots where their bodies are covered up you start to snap out of the trance and start to realise it's actually not a good film at all...but then Tura Santana cleavage appears again and suddenly you're gripped. Intense cleavage/10
  21. ^^^ The Devils is a great film! Russel is a gem. (Altered States was a little bit of a let down for me, seemed to go on longer than it should and obsessed about the techno babble details rather than purely embracing it's strong imagery and performances) Ex_Machina: Really good! Intelligent, minimal, sleek. Great to see top sci-fi in the cinemas. Naked sex robots/10 Whiplash: Also very good! Great to see so many decent and strong original films in the cinema at the moment. Mad tempos/10
