fucking apple

i bought an ipod classic less than a month ago. last week i started to have issues with the headphone jack where i could only hear one channel. i tested out various headphones and they all had the same issue, so i sent the ipod in for repairs. i figured this was covered under the basic warranty. they send this thing back to me and say there's "liquid damage", which i don't understand because it's never been near a liquid. this was a 250 dollar product that is now completely useless, and apple are trying to charge me 100 dollars in "diagnostic fees" to repair it. fucking terrible company, between this and my overheating powerbook i'm done with them.

Maybe the cymbals were too splashy on one of the Alarm Will Sound covers?

You should write a local US news program and tell a tale of trying to get your grandfather's ipod serviced by Apple and the horrors that followed. I bet you could end up with an apology letter.

my macbook pro has had its "superdrive" (matSHITa superdrive) fail three fucking times. As in, I am on my fourth dvd-rom drive. I've told them I think the problem is a connection between the drive and the motherboard, but they insist on just replacing the drive. breaks every fucking time! Luckily it is all covered under applecare but fuck them for never actually fixing the problem for good.

otherwise i kinda like apple.

I've been a Mac user for all my life. I can honestly say that I've never had a problem with my computers, and 1 had a problem with the 5 ipods I've owned. I always feel bad for people who clearly just get unlucky and are given a shit machine, but Apple has yet to destroy my faith. They aren't that bad of a company, they're just like everyone else.

Some people want to spend several thousands dollars on a laptop to show their shiny apple logo in cafés.

I've had 4 ipods since Ipod was invented and they all still work 100%. If you didn't, keep that shit in the best case possible. I've dropped all of them numerous times, rain, snow, concrete...still great. Just bought a 3.0 macbook pro, altho I got the care on this. :cisfor:

i intensely dislike them for how itunes and ipods are extremely restricted e.g. with connecting ipods to multiple machines, how shit is copy protected and how you can't get things from itunes stores in different countries and shit. basically i hate their anti piracy things, because i enjoy pirating things lol

also apple computer hardware pisses me off in that it's not modular and customizable. it just comes in a big box that you're not supposed to open up and tinker with. that's boring.

having said all that i've never owned a single apple product ever, despite working for them at one point lol

I had that problem with my ipod video, so I opened it and put a piece of rubbery material next to the headphone jack so it'd be pushed up against the side, and it fixed the issue for a few months, then it came back again and I shattered the screen.

moisture sensors are a real scam. it's a great way for hardware companies to cut down their hardware failure losses.. just claim "oh, the moisture sensor is tripped".. even if it's completely unrelated to why the thing stopped working.

I shattered the screen.

high five

one of my mates flung his chronically faulty ipod up in the air above a carpark and we enjoyed the big shattering sound it made

i've been an apple user since before the internet - my first one was a centris 610

a few months ago when flash put out a new update, i wasn't (and still am not) able to listen to music on myspace or watch video on hulu

so i went to update, but flash said i need the new operating system

i can't get the new operating system because i have a g4

so i went into the apple store and told them this, and asked the guy what should i do. he stuck his thumb over his should and motioned "throw it out"

i purposefully bought the best computer available at the time so it would work for a while. and besides this it does work fine still

i have a powerbook g4 1ghz with 1gb of ram and you're telling me its not good enough to use for the internet?!

really apple?

apple is ok, but when it comes to warranty and failures it's plain frustrating. my 'clickwheel' gen ipod worked fine for a year or so, then the battery began to perform zero and the hard drive inside got broken. the repair costs along with a new battery and a hard drive would have cost me more than the price of a similar, new generation ipod. i considered buying parts from USA, but the costs were basically the same. now it is still lying hidden in the drawer.

otherwise i worked on macs most of my time and never had a problem (though i've learned that OS X and G4 are not a good combination).
