Getting a new mp3 player

Alright, so my old ipod video kicked the bucket a few weeks ago, and I'm looking into getting a new portable music player... now, my hunt begins. I'm looking for something with at least 32GB space that will work with winamp (or some other software of similar ilk).

Suggestions? I'm thinking ipod Touch or maybe Zune, as those seem to be the most common options... but how hard would it be to get those to work with a player that isn't from either company (I hate iTunes and the Zune program equally)?

Seriously, just don't buy any of that ipod shit.

Sony is the best when it comes to quality/interface/price relation. I have had years of experience with sony and never let me down.

I would consider the s:flo2... has dual DACs on it, one per channel. plus does video, can expand the memory with a micro SD, FLAC, OGG, MP3 play back, only $180 plus has a line out so you can pair it wit hone of your favorite amps. Reviews around the audiophile forums says best sound quality next to the hifiman.

Don't sony mp3 players make you use their bullshit software?

I don't know, I like iTunes and I have an iPhone and I'm more than happy

I just might make an exception for this one, only 16 GB but seems pretty awesome.

How's the battery life, though? I hated how my iPod had a battery of ~2 hours at two-thirds volume.

My iPod touch goes for three days without needing a charge, listening to music for say 4 hours a day, while playing games and using the internet occasionally. It's old too, probably at least 2.5-3 years.

Video will of course take more battery.

friend of mine has a sansa, i think it has 32 gigs on its own, but it also has a slot for an SDHC card, so it goes up to 64 gigs or so. plays flac too, iirc.

Answered my own question in the comments. Roughly 8 hours.

This one looks promising. :sorcerer:

You can add a 16gb micro sd which would make it 32gb :D I'm gettin this as soon as my sansa fuze dies

i've got a 32gb s9, adn it's awesome, but the j3 is basically just an updated S9 with an SD card slot, so you can expand it up to 64GB or more. heard good things about the s:flo too but don't really knwo much about it.
