talk about a horrible film you've seen recently

this thread is an excuse for me to talk about how awful the new 2010 film "Monsters" was. I saw it tonight. I was under the impression it was supposed to be about aliens and stuff. there were really no aliens. in fact, the only 'monsters' in this film are the two insipid, smug, totally hateable main characters. I wanted them to die, badly. i wanted him to carried away by an alien pterodactyl and shred to pieces in midair, his limbs falling to the ground like a feast offering at the feet of dozens of starving, angry mexicans. a couple of amorous aliens meet up at a gas station and fondle each other like two obese rednecks. then the movie fucking ends. am i missing the subtext in this film? i hated this film.

did you get to hate a film this year? which?

I watched and hated Precious. That film did nothing for me.

edit: I'm not sure it's a horrible bad film though. I guess technically and acting wise it was adequate.

Scott Pilgrim is a bunch of shiny horse turds rolling around on a screen...

Yeah but once you look past that its a pretty clever movie :) I never really wanted to watch it but my Cuz and her friend forced me to see it. If it were more IMD/Break Core oriented I think it would of been better.

Might be years before I see it again, unless I'm tricked to like I was tricked to see OldBoy. I'm not a movie person to begin with.

Like I said I'm not a movie person. Only movies I like watching are Comedies.

I didn't like Oldboy for the following reasons....

A. Frustrating.

B. The guy was doing so many stupid things, he was being a dumbass. I don't care how long you've been locked up commonsense does not go away.

C. If he really wanted to kill himself he could have suffocated himself. Come on doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that if cutting your wrists doesn't work try something else.

C. Disgusting.

D. He wasn't badass enough to redeem himself of all his pathetic actions.

E. Disgusting.

yeah, it is pretty awesome...

I don't like the Social Network either...

another shiny vacuous turd of a film...

I might have enjoyed it is I was a Harvard graduate, cared about what rich spoiled humans think, thought Facebook was good for humanity, liked Jesse Eisenberg, felt that this is the type of film Fincher should be making, and didn't ever know Fincher was in talks about making 'Rendezvous with Rama' into a film...

a sign of the times when film critics are calling a film about a website the best film of the year...

I do enjoy the soundtrack...

sorry karma...

i got dragged into seeing that movie FASTER with the rock and uhh that one guy who was... billy bob thornton. awful, awful flick. it tries very hard to be a sort of minimalist spaghetti western throwback and it tries to be a quentin tarantino revenge flick but then at the same time it also tries to be a THE ROCK action movie and it also tries to be a few other things and fails on every count. half the music in it was music made for other movies, that should give you an idea of where it was coming from. it was an action movie with very little action (most of the "action" scenes are just THE ROCK shooting people in the face) and no plot. either more plot or more action might have made it a bit more tolerable but it fell pretty far short of what i would call "good."

You would have preferred a badass superhero movie with a happy ending?? He just spent half his life in a single hotel room, of course he's gonna be irrational, out of touch with humanity, and desperate in getting his revenge.

Plus the ending is gloriously disgusting

edit: last shite movie I watched was Paranormal Activity, not scary in the slightest, mostly quite boring... very predictable and unoriginal. Its only redeeming quality was that it made us laugh a lot after a few beers.

the movie was all well and good as far as technicalities are concerned, but my friend (who works at fb) and i were talking and we both agreed: this movie could have been about Anything Ever Invented Anywhere. facebook was a macguffin, just a plot tool. this guy fucked over people to invent something because he's a social retard and just in general likes to fuck with people and not give them their due.... sorry but Not interesting enough to make a major motion picture imho.

a movie made for nerds. it was shot quite well and i liked how it was filmed in general though, to each his own. i wouldn't write off recommending it to other people.

i tend to turn off movies that i hate before they get going too long, and i did that recently with Revanche which i suspect is actually a great flick but i wasn't in the mood to be horribly depressed. :whistling:

expendables.. i didn't watch the whole thing cause i didn't like it. was there even a plot? i dunno

The cauliflower ear grossed me out, Stallone's recent movies are always so short, there's only 3 acts: intro, go to warzone, middle till end final fight, that's it. Half of Rambo 4 was him on a machine gun mincing people up.
