VENETIAN SNARES - NEW LIVE SHOW

The badman returns to Manchester! February 26th sees a rare visit in the North of England from Aaron Funk, the prolific Canadian DJ and producer best known for his ground-breaking work as Venetian Snares. In terms of legends, they don't come much bigger...Funk has released a total of 22 albums (mostly through Mike Paradinas' pioneering Planet Mu label), 20 singles and has been credited by the late John Peel as the man responsible for re-inventing breakcore. His otherworldly sound is hard to place - spanning dark orchestral, hyper-speed jungle and grating noise and often recorded in unusual time signatures such as 7/4 - furious rhythms that still retain a killer dancefloor edge. This will be the 1st time that Aaron has played live in Manchester...as you will agree, unmissable!

NEIL LANDSTRUMM

Since his first releases in the early 1990's Neil has grown to be one of the most consistent and respected electronic music producers, releasing his bleep heavy take on techno, dubstep and rave on a diverse range of labels including Tresor, Peacefrog and most recently Mike Paradinas' Planet Mu imprint.

VHS HEAD

There has been a lot of speculation over the identity of VHS head since his first release on Manchester's Skam in 2009. All we know is that he produced one of the albums of 2010 with Trademark Ribbons of Gold, with it's icy spikes of digital glitch and barrage of samples lifted from a collection of video tapes.

Nice...venetian snares kicks a fairly good deal of ass, I must say. Came upon "songs about my cats" while searching for feline-themed radio show materials; intriguing shyte there. Too bad, though, that we likely will not have him in Alaska any time soon. Or anyone for that matter besides snoop doggy dogg and matisyahu :^{

Boards of Twoism

Kris needs to stop drawing pictures and release his fucking tunes.

yes he does, i keep telling him that he needs to put more stuff out. i'm dying for him to switch on downloads on his soundcloud or something.

VHS Head live? *jizz* :braindance:

yes, he's already done like 4 gigs live (3 of which i've been to)

What's he sound like live?

special versions of tracks that you can only hear live + unheard stuff not available anywhere else + oscillik under the influence of alcohol = oscillik dancing like an absolute twat, to some fucking awesome sounds

why does everyone need to download tracks from soundcloud

if you can stream it, you can record it

Soundcloud streams at fairly low quality. If you enable downloads of the track it enables the original file to be downloaded at the rate you uploaded it - presumably higher...

PS

Saw P45 in Oxford last night and he played a wicked set, had the task of DJing between a Coloureds live show (which was awesome - catch them live if you can, proper fun banging electro-ish techno), and Shitmat - who ripped it up
