Obama Stinks

SR4

Recommended Posts

-Refused to pass a half decent universal healthcare bill with the supermajority of Congress, instead passed a healthcare bill pandering to private interests

-Debt of 17 trillion compared to 15 trillion/yr GDP

-Threatened to double the interest rate on student federal loans, knowing that doing so would completely cripple and condemn any middle class hope of getting out of debt and becoming productive consumers in capitalist society before they reach the ripe old age of 50

-Violated the War Powers Act and extensions thereof

-Continuation and increase/expansion of Bush Doctrine foreign policy

-Minor attempt to cut back on national defense spending (proposed, will never actually happen in reality)

-Unlawful and illegal assassination of US citizens without right to trial

-Continuation of spending 40% of national budget on defense increases

-Went back on promises to close Gitmo and other US camps guilty of illegal methods of barbaric torture

-Lack of investigation into stock market abuse by corporate conglomerates (many of which were bailed out by the post-Bush and Obama govt.)

What is the alternative? Oh yeah, someone worse

Submission vs. abject slavery.

Yes, I should be comfortable with this choice; how dare I.

The world is run by elites, they have it good, do you think they gonna allow people to vote for someone that would change the whole thing?

Obama, Romeny, Cameron, Milaband they are all the fucking same, shells of human beings, muppets controlled by the same master.

Obama's a busy man. He doesn't have time to shower regularly. Also he's afraid of soap after a traumatic childhood experience involving trying to eat an entire bar of soap.

Take it easy on the dude.

Smettingham, what do you suggest is to be done?

Will you be voting for Obama or a third party , or at all? I'm curious since I'm disappointed too with things have turned out. I'm growing increasingly skeptical of the notion that the left should support Obama anyway because Romney is worse.

Even though a third candidate has very poor chances of actual election, I think that in the long term, it would be smart to try to push the standards for liberal/conservative back towards the left. Because to much of the country, Obama is seen as a dangerous liberal, etc. Which is absurd, considering the results you listed above. Do you think capaigning/voting for third party (Green, Rocky Anderson, etc.) would have any effect in that direction? I'm inclined to say yes...

I was prepared to give a really snarky answer until I read the rest of your post. You are alright, and one of the few that still gives at shit.

Short answer to your question: no. Long answer: Yes.

Its not a question of a short campaign win within 4 years. The change we need now is decades away. Better to start now than later. Real talk. Move it to the left because there simply is no left in America anymore...probably hasn't been for a while. And even though I wouldn't proclaim myself a leftist wholeheartedly, Id be glad to know that wed be joining ranks together in demanding consistency and culpability from the people in powerz. So ultimately, yes, if you believe that third party means something in the long run, help campaign. You will lose, guaranteed, but let that strengthen your resolve rather than sap it. They bank on you giving up after a while.

Not sure how American politics work exactly, but I was under the impression that although he's the most powerful single person in the elected government, congress supercedes him when it comes to some sort of majority vote?

In any case, at least he's making a visible effort to change certain ways of the US. He has been vocal supporter of public health care, his administration caught Osama (if you don't believe the conspiracies that he was dead for years), other terrorists, he has TRIED to hold wall street accountable to some degree (failed in many ways...).

All I can say is its a step in the right direction at least.

Edit: at least it looks that way from the outside looking in on American politics. I don't live it like you smetting-boss.... All I see from here is Obama is an option, and then theres romney and ron paul and stuff....
