Do we live in a simulation?

Apparently there is computer code inside the fabric of space according to some string theorists.

Quote:

"Doubly-even self-dual linear binary error-correcting block code," first invented by Claude Shannon in the 1940's, has been discovered embedded WITHIN the equations of superstring theory!

Why does nature have this? What errors does it need to correct? What is an 'error' for nature? More importantly what is the explanation for this freakish discovery? Your guess is as good as mine.

it doesn't matter if we do or not. the answer has no bearing on anything, and we can't do anything about it if we do.

yes, amost definitely. now pretty much beyond doubt according to stuff i've read. whether it makes a difference to anything is another matter.

what have you been reading

mostly The Sport, The Sun and The National Enquirer

i reckon all IT-dudes are in on it and you want us to believe we can't do anything about it

The code is an error correcting checksum, so if this true, the string functions as a sort of compiler that converts binary data into reality. Does that necessarily mean we're living in a simulation though (if this indeed true)
