Black Strobe, out of France, is one of my favorite electro groups. They describe their style as "frozen balearic gay biker house", which i think is awesome. theyre pretty dark. they have this pulp/noir-ish element to them. and they're DAMN good producers imo.

Their classic stuff:

and their more recent (but not at all new) stuff:

Does anyone know why this group is and has been so underrated?

Is anyone a fan? it's weird how i never hear anything about them...

Not a Black Strobe fan per se but I do remember Italian Fireflies being a big hit here in Belgium.

They're a product of the 90s scene around the Source label which I quite liked. Source featured all kinds of house, drum & bass, hip hop, downtempo, lounge, all with a distinctly French touch, and Arnaud Rebotini of Black Strobe contributed some memorable drum & bass tracks to the Source compilations, like this one:

I think there was even an early Black Strobe house track (Paris Acid City) featured on one of the compilations.

And I enjoyed Rebotini's solo album (2008), although I must admit I don't play it very often anymore if ever. Looks like the uploader cut my favourite track into two parts though, lol.
